That thread about your first UCF Road Gane got me thinking about the handful of away games I have been too over the years. Before I had kids , I went more away games than I do now ,but to my credit I live in western North Carolina and make it to nearly every home game now. 😆. I don't think I am a road warrior ,but I know many here are . What's your list?

Mine includes :
Valdosta State, Troy, Samford, Ga. Southern, FSU, UF , the bulls ( although technically a home game for us), NC State, ECU, Louisville, Ga. Tech, Marshall, and Auburn. Bowel Games include the First Liberty Bowl, Peach Bowl, 2 most recent Gasparilla Bowls and the COVID Boca Bowl. Didn't we play Bethune Cookman once in Daytona?

ACE is very cool too if you haven't been. Last year's event got a bit washed out with the rain and a lot of turncoats. Got a picture with DG, BigKat whiffed all year and Gus big-timed me.

What year did you attend your first game and presumably become a fan?

Me, 1996 season opener, which was UCF's first game as a member of Division I-A. It was a pretty close game with William & Mary. I recall looking through the program and seeing a list of teams new to I-A and seeing UABs name on there and thought, "Oh, that's interesting." I was also mildly surprised by the tailgating scene (I was 15).

I didn't get "hooked" until preseason 1997 when I discovered the internet and the old "Knightline" message board. My home streak record began in 1997 until I missed the ECU game last season due to a severe flu/cough.

I decided to go with 1979 as a standalone to see how many OGs we have. RIP to "Big Les" (aka FTUCF) who would have been in that 1979 category. We lost him last year at that ECU home game that I missed. 😢

UCF defensive tackle Ricky Barber met with the media following Tuesday's practice, which was their first day back to work after Sunday's scrimmage (Monday was a day off).

Barber felt they had a "solid day" during the scrimmage, but says they still have things to clean up. They need to "stay greedy" which T-Will likes to say. It means never be satisfied.

Asked about defensive standouts, Barber name dropped CB Nikai Martinez and fellow DTs Matthew Alexander and Keenan Hester.

Regarding Nikai, Barber said he's "fast" and "everywhere."

He was asked about DT Lee Hunter. "He's a bull. He's going to take the person in front of him and take them five yards into the back field. He has the size and speed to make a move if need be, but he's a power guy."

Barber feels the defensive depth is a lot better this year.

He talked about how LB Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste is the leader that helps brings the defense together.

Barber said the DL are close - He lives with Keenan Hester, Antony Montalvo and Lee Hunter. "We're a close group."

I asked if T-Will has ever taken him fishing. Not yet. I asked if he fishes. "I'm from Kentucky. I can fish."

How good can the defense be this year?

"I expect us to be a top 25 defense and be dangerous."

My first UCF road game was at FSU in 1995. I believe it was our first game against one of the "Big 3", and also my girlfriend was attending FSU. Even though it was a blowout win, I recall FSU trying to run up the score at the end, going for it on 4th down, and our team stopping them.
