Softball (Fastpitch) vs Baseball

I wanted to post this in a separate thread because I didn’t want it to get lost in the other.

I have a teenage daughter who has been playing travel softball since she was 8. Like most parents you learn sports your kids are engaged in for obvious reasons.

She now is a Freshman and the starting catcher on her high school team. (Ranked no 2 in state of Virginia for independent schools)

The point of this post is for those of you who have not discovered Fastpitch Softball If really recommend watching the game. Unlike baseball where the base and pitching distance grows it is the same for 14 u, High school and college. The girls get stronger and faster but the dimensions remain the same.
This leads ti a very fast and exciting game (unlike Baseball IMHO).
The pitching mound is closer so if you apply some physics the reaction time is the equivalent of a 90 mph pitch. You can’t lead off the base until the ball leaves the pitchers hand and once committed in a base running direction you have to go. (Confusing Look back rule).

Our girls are really good! UCF is recognized as a premier school in the sport.
I would encourage all of you to check out a game. I find it exciting. Let’s support these amazing players!!!

our series with Wichita is coming up and it will be a battle of two good teams.

Vaccine failure thread

In case you missed it, as ol BK said over and over, the vaccines have been a flop.

The only question now is how much vaccine enhanced disease and vaccine injured is out there . Lot of 3x/4x getting severe covid with Omicron, cancers, ebv, shingles and so on. Man mRNA sure does a number on the immune system

***UCF stands out to Kaleb Cost***

Two-sport and all-around athlete Kaleb Cost recently made it down from Georgia to visit UCF.

The Sandy Creek (Ga.) star attended "Hometown Hero," the mega recruiting event held in late January.

"It was a great experience," Cost said. "They showed great hospitality. Coach (Gus) Malzahn wasn't able to make it, but he sent me a text wishing he could be there to meet me. All in all, it was a good visit."

It was actually his second time on campus as Cost also attended a home game last season.

"The biggest thing for me was when we were able to sit down with the coaches," Cost said. "I got to ask a lot of questions being in the room with the DBs coach, Coach (Addison) Williams and Coach T-Will (Travis Williams). They were telling me how things are operated... They don't sugarcoat things. They'll tell you how it is."

Addison Williams is also his recruiter.

"UCF offered around four months ago and we've been building the relationship ever since," Cost said. "He's from Atlanta too. He went to Westlake High School. I'm from Sandy Creek, so I'm real familiar with Westlake. The bond is going real well."

Cornerback is his likely spot in college, but he plays all over the field as a wide receiver and return specialist too. He's also been known to kick on occasion.

"Wherever they need me to play, that's where I'll play," Cost said.

He's also a talented baseball player with offers to play both sports in college.

Cost has visited Florida State, Miami, Kentucky, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech in recent months. He has offers from all.

"I do have a few schools that stand out," Cost said. "UCF is one of them. Later on in the summer I'll be dropping my top schools."

There's a lot to like about UCF.

"The palm trees, back home you don't see any of that," Cost said. "Great weather. The academics too. My mom really likes that."

He was also impressed by UCF's bowl win against Florida. A year from now, the Knights will be getting ready for Big 12 play.

"That was big," Cost said. "I watched that game from start to finish. That game was amazing. An American school beating a Power Five school, but not just any Power Five school, an SEC powerhouse. That means a lot. UCF has the ability to beat teams like that and they're heading into the Big 12 next year."

Cost will take additional visits this spring and official visits in the summer.

"My decision date is set," he said. "August 27, which is my 18th birthday."
