Here's what I'd do regarding hoops:

I'd flip the coaches and make Katie Henderson the guys coach and tell Dawkins he's now the women's coach. If he doesn't like it, pack bags. Anyone who thinks she isn't a better X's and O's coach either doesn't know basketball or has a problem with a female leading the guys team. We'd see immediate improvement. Instead we won't and will be lucky to get into the NIT. Zzzzzz #ChargeOn.*

***Transfer QBs to Watch***

UCF's prior QB transfer targets (that we know of) have committed to other schools - Adrian Martinez to Kansas State, Michael Penix to Washington and Bo Nix to Oregon - so here's a list of available QBs UCF could now be targeting. It's all speculation on my part, but these are players that are rumored to have a level of interest from the staff.

1a. Casey Thompson (Texas) - During the Frost era, Thompson actually listed UCF among his top schools before committing to Texas. Put up good numbers this year while playing with an injured hand. I would tend to think he's UCF's No. 1 target at this time. Other schools that could be in the mix include TCU, Nebraska and Ole Miss.

1b. Cameron Ward (Incarnate Word) - He is one of the top available QBs on the board, though there is plenty of competition. Passed for more than 4,600 yards this past season. With Ole Miss striking out on other targets, and knowing Ward visited there before the dead period, maybe they are the favorite?

2. Emory Jones (Florida) - Not in the portal yet, but announced his intentions a few days ago. Apparently UF is going to allow him to play UCF in the bowl game.

Next Tier:

Chubba Purdy (FSU) - The younger brother of Iowa State QB Brock Purdy, Chubba was No. 3 on the depth chart at FSU behind Jordan Travis and McKenzie Milton. He suffered a collarbone injury in 2020 and then reinjured it later in the season.

Cammon Cooper (Washington State) - He was a highly-rated four-star QB coming out of high school in Utah, but has sparingly played at WSU.

Though not yet announced, a couple notable QBs are rumored to be committing soon - Jake Plummer (Purdue) to Cal and Zach Calzada (Texas A&M) to Pittsburgh.

Maybe there are other QBs that will hit the portal following their bowl games? If UCF was hoping for a first-tier level QB with prior starting experience, the availability is becoming slim.

Question for Rainbow18Mom / Dillon Gabriel’s Mom

I know @Rainbow18Mom still browses the forum actively (rivals shows when you are last on the board), so I have an honest question for you. This isn’t a flame, just genuinely curious if you are comfortable answering.

It looks like Lebby had been actively recruiting a number of other quarterbacks to start at OU, even after Dillon Gabriel has committed.

@Rainbow18Mom, How does Dillon feel about this? Does he feel any concern about Jeff Lebby being honest with him? What will he do if he ends up backup for the Sooners next season?

No assumptions, just wanted to know since you are on here reading.

Semi-OT: College football’s biggest threat is the continued regionalization of success and interest in the sport

Thought this was an interesting article:

Meanwhile, the three power conferences with TV deals coming up and unsure of their future prospects are the Big Ten, Big 12, and the Pac 12, soon to be representing those remaining 3 of the last 24 championships. While the Big Ten is in a good position for a new deal, the Big 12 and Pac 12 are seemingly precarious positions between not much recent championship or playoff success and at a severe rating disadvantage. It’s very plausible one or both of the conferences may soon find themselves playing a majority of their games on a streaming service like Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, or ESPN+, something that will certainly not do any favors with fans or recruits.

but also:

Playoff expansion actually will probably push back any real concern over this for another decade given the amount of money it will inject into the sport.

are we spending a ton of money on fees and facility improvements to jump to the big 12 right in time for a sports rights apocalypse? or does the increase in cord cutting put MORE pressure on providers to secure live sports rights? if we get some gargantuan deal from like, amazon prime does the conference risk less eyeballs for the immediate cash infusion?

it's fascinating stuff and may have wider implications than who retains p5 status or if the playoffs expand to 8 or 12 games

Mark Blaudschun: "No reason" why UT/OU start date can't be settled in "weeks"

The departure/arrival for Texas and Oklahoma is the reason for the log jam among the other conferences.

The only debate is a financial one, involving how much money in exit fees must be paid and how quickly.

In the case of the SEC and Oklahoma and Texas, money is NOT a deal-breaking issue. According to several sources, Texas was ready to sign the deal in September so it could move to the SEC next season.

Oklahoma has been the reluctant partner, which also seems ridiculous if you how much more money the Sooners can make in the SEC than in the Big 12.

There is no reason why this cant or shouldn't be settled in the next few weeks with an announcement coming that in Sept of 2023, OU and Texas will be full playing members in the SEC.

Once that happens, UCF, , Houston and BYU can join the Big 12 and the other conference moves can also be finalized.
