its a political nickname designed to help him connect with minorities because hes super white. in todays leftist politics being white and rich are frowned upon, thus the need for a spanish nickname. i agree with you that cruz did the exact same thing. i think its more like 55% like him the other 45% dont but still fairly close.
i never went down the birther rabit hole and i believed obama is 100% american.Let me guess, you're the same guy who also didn't believe for one second the Obama birth announcement in the the Honolulu newspaper. Howard Schultz. -- If people really listen to him, he has run a company many admire, has really come from not a silver spoon. I like a lot of what I heard from him.. He is a Realist not an Optimist like some on the left.
Sen. Warren is out there, actually spoke well, but her want to crush Amazon, Facebook Google is a bit cray! also the we gonna kill off the electoral College is not good either!
Amy Klobuchar is tough, but actually I think, she think before she speaks, may not like someone that can cross the aisle, but she is tough, and our leader should be that. I would think Democrats if they wanted an actual winner vs Trump need to look more into her!
Bernie-- I did not watch, but my progressive friends said CNN was tough on him.. Sorry but many of his ideas are very nice, but in reality would harm the economy.. Also, rich people are not forced to stay here is the biggest LEFT wing Progressive Problem.. When they leave they take their 1% money and you don't have that money to magically tax.. Socialism and some of the other views would give Trump Term 2..
Cory Booker - Nice guy just not the year. Too many good candidates he is running against.
Beto - I think he is very charismatic. & has worked with Republicans which pisses off my far lefties. He has a closet of 50 shades of something.. He has the presence to give Trump a run, but I think Trump could beat him..
Kamala - She has the chance media doesn't attack her.. she kinda is quietly running.. but you do not want to be torn to shreds..
Buttigieg? - I hear good things not well know..
Hickenlooper - Watching Wed Night. I think he is pretty good moderate. Should be interesting..
Crazy Yang - All I know is he wants to get rid of circumcision? WTF! Ant Vaccines now this..
Biden we all know, is running, & I actually liked him before he was pulled into the Left in 2008, he was a good moderate that bridged in congress the parties, and he was tongue slip Joe like me..

Do not listen to polls. If you go far left, there are many I know in the middle that are leaning Democrat but the 3 or 4 they will not vote for are in the far left..
Trump will have a hard time beating a Moderate Dem.. The Socialists will scare many independents.. and that is what swings the election in 2020..

It's not Beto's job to speak to nut swingers like you who will never vote for anyone except for Trump. He needs to answer to the progressive movement. Right now progressives want progress. So distancing yourself from 7 or 10 year old ideas is going to be important for everyone.
As I've said before, please do run a far left "progressive". You'd think the mayor of a relatively small city would be at the back of the pack. But in his early interviews and town halls, he has literally blown me away with his command of the issues. I challenge anyone to listen to him and not be impressed. Given the state of our politics, he's a breath of fresh air.
My gut tells me this 'no-name' is going to make some serious waves in the Democratic Primaries.

the electoral college has served this country well for a very long time and it will continue to do so in the future. i think its stupid to call for it to be removed. i think there is plenty of room for debate on how states award their votes. i hate what colorado and other states are trying to do. i think that undermines the system. i would be ok with more states offering to give % of their electoral vote to candidates based on the % of votes they win in that state.
He was interviewed on Morning Joe this morning and you can find a YouTube video of his recent CNN town hall where he fielded questions from the audience.
Just watched the Vice video and half the town hall. Hmm, yea he's going to be a force. Too bad he's gay and has a super gay name huh?

I wonder how many of you have been to South Bend? It’s a shit hole, roughly the same size as Lakeland with a worse crime rate. If not for ND, South Bend would be a rust yard. There is little growth in South Bend, eight out of nine city council members are democrats, so it’s not as if the mayor has to work across party lines. I’d ask what has he accomplished as an elected official or what he has accomplished personally but who cares, he sounds great.
What exactly has ANY of the Democratic Presidential field really accomplished? Show me all the sterling accomplishments of Beto or Warren or Booker or Biden or Bernie or Harris?
What makes Mayor Pete "sound great" is that he, get this, actually listens to questions and responds with thoughtful, direct, and well-considered answers to those questions instead of regurgitating memorized sound bites that have been tested by focus groups.
Just heard on Morning Joe that Mika and Joe's phones and twitter accounts literally blew up yesterday after their interview with Pete. They said the response was extraordinary. Apparently more and more voters across the country are sitting up and taking notice of this impressive young man.

And regarding the Democrats, I will make a bold prediction right here and now in March 2019 by saying that Pete Buttigieg is going to be that long-shot horse in a crowded field who stuns the Grandstand crowd by leading the race going into the home stretch.
In a conventional sense, yes. But as we saw throughout the 2016 primaries and the 2012 general, it really doesn't matter who the better debater is when you have a cult of personality on the stage.
Nothing really happens as a small city Mayor? Yeah, being Vice President is such a mission-critical position! What would we do without Mike Pence, right? And least we forget the position of Senator in today's Congress. Boy the legislative work those people do is staggering.
I've done my homework as I've considered this big Democrat field. Unlike some, I view the picking of a President as a 'job interview' where the answers to questions that candidates give actually mean something. It's still early but IMHO Mayor Pete has aced his early interviews and has set himself apart by the uniqueness of his message.

No you don't. Which is why it was important to see Trump's tax returns while we were still vetting candidates to see exactly how our would-be President actually made his money.
But his Red Hat followers said "We don't need to see no stinkin' tax returns," and we didn't.
If we had, chances are he'd have been kicked out of the race before this Russian collusion business had a chance to blossom.
there is no law that states they must submit tax returns, it is just a custom. i think it wouldve been a good idea if he had just to calm the doubters. then again, one of his returns got leaked so why arent you happy with that?
