Do we have an issue with men over 50 fathering children that they can’t pay for?
If she wants to make a valid point, how about we target men who repeatedly impregnate women out of wedlock and in without the means to provide for said child? Or women in that circumstance? Or families that have never taken care of themselves without significant public assistance but keep having children? Or people with severe substance abuse issues that are a danger to themselves and their children? You know, the groups that are actually causing problems in this society.
I want to help the families that are doing what they can to scrape by to elevate themselves. I have no problem with us paying for everything for a family that is stuck in a financial hole (but doing everything else right) for the time it takes to get new skills so they can climb out of the hole (while ensuring that they are pursuing resetting their future). 6 months, a year, whatever is a reasonable time to get them to the point where they are self-sufficient.
But we have to exclude the people who continue to do the wrong things over and over and expect us to pay for it forever.
