Covid deaths pushing toward 5k per day.

Is Covid-19 worse than the flu?

Good point, DR. KNIGHTTIME.

Certainly nothing that we've seen with this worldwide pandemic should have led us to believe that social distancing and staying-at-home has slowed down this contagious virus in any way, shape, and form.*

We likely just made it worse. When 1800 prison inmates test positive and only 1 had severe symptoms, it goes to show that getting this isnt as bad as what we were led to believe. They weren't exactly social distancing. But yeah, we tanked the economy and made people more susceptible to infection later on. Sounds good.

So we are destroying the entire economy for a less than 1% death rate. Makes sense...hope we shut down every flu season. ;)
A rare double down on the flu comparison with 55k dead in a month. We shut down the country and we're still going to lose 100k. It doesn't take a strong mental capacity to imagine the death total if we had just let America burn.

Literal trading lives for economy.

Are y'all still arguing with the same dumb bitch who said this will be over and forgotten in a couple weeks back in January?

Lolololol inbreds

Wrong...the social distancing might be doing very little and frankly making things worse.
What type of mental deficiency do you have to have to propose that distancing from other people actually makes transmission of a communicable disease worse? Hey well at least he didn’t try to argue that injecting disinfectants was a plausible solution to treating Covid19.

Doctors are saying it. Weakening immune systems. Especially young newborns need to be exposed to Bacteria and viruses. That builds immunity. Your getting exposed everyday to bacteria and virus

Dumb to have the healthiest with a .002% chance of death to be inside. But...but... going to a slammed full Publix and coscto is cool. People are dumb. The virus can stay on some surfaces for 3 days. Pointless to think you're safe and large stores from the Wuhan flu.
Dude you are dumb as a post. I have a 5 month old and was specifically told by doctors not to go to public spaces that could expose him for the first few months. The immune system for a newborn isn’t even developed yet and is shaped by the mothers immune system. But feel free to post a reputable source that says you should be getting newborns in public to expose them to disease.

These inbred left wing radicals fail to mention that the doctor didn’t mention newborns, but SMALL CHILDREN.

Does anyone know why people are forbidden from going to that Island off of the coast of India??

Because the inhabitants would ALL DIE! They are isolated from the rest of the world and have not built a natural immunity

HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT SOLELY WHAT THE VIDEO IS ABOUT

Part that gets me. They can be scared betas. Let the consumers decide if they want to get out. Not like Walmart or Target has a magic Corona free zone. :)
The one doctor pointed out the absurdity in this approach. He said something like "there is no scientific basis for this". Well when you put it that way, yeah this seems really dumb.

We've flattened the curve, there is no risk of overwhelming the hospitals now, let's get back to work before more damage is done.

Yeah, this approach makes sense. And am I the only one that is a little but creeped out at the idea that wearing masks is going to be mandatory when they open back up?

Part of their immune build up is getting out and exposing to bacteria and viruses. Probably not like 5 days old. But 6 months old babies do well going to daycare and getting exposed early.

Guess you didn't watch the video from professionals.
No I didn’t watch the video. And no newborns aren’t suffering because they aren’t out and about right now being exposed to viruses. Your statement was asinine. Now you can walk it back or maybe you were being sarcastic. There’s 10s of millions of doctors on the planet. Congrats on finding one that shares your feelings on the matter.

How can you dismiss something that you didn't watch?

You can't spend an hour to watch a video with two doctors in that field of research? They aren't someone 80 years old in an office getting it wrong at every step. Dr. Ferrari that is...

Nothing is political in the video by the way. Just factual data.
I can’t. I am watching 2 kids. When they go to bed I will be watching something lighthearted on Netflix. Now if you have something to read, that’s doable.

This I can agree with. We get my 3 year old and near 1 year old to bed by 730 and then race to the TV to watch Outlander to escape to 1734.

Hahahahaha! Ninjaknight voted that Covid-19 wasn’t worse than the Flu and that he’s an idiot

I doubt that’s what he wanted to do. The disaster of a human being can’t even read! Classic

Reporting shenanigans or the turning point?

Yesterday's death toll was the first week over week drop in a long time. Sunday's are always low but for us to be at 1100 is significant. We'll need to see if we get a backlog of deaths reported today and Tuesday but I'll take 1100 all day if it's right.

Doubt 1,100 covid claimed deaths is really the only cause of death for those so way overstated. Like some in really bad shape with cancer but happened to also have the Wuhan flu. That is a covid death to the numbers. Funny the pneumonia deaths are way down.

Also kind of funny how on day 1 the Connecticut governor declared that a 7 week old died from covid-19, but 3 weeks later the coroner still hasn't established cause of death. Suppose that guy is being pressured to shut up and sweep it under the rug?

Round and round we go with this nonsense and even though we've talked about this a dozen times you can never explain why the death rate has gone up 300% in those cities.
Round and round we go, and you can't explain why everywhere else is pretty much fine regardless of the level of social distancing. NYC metro is an outlier for a reason. Its not hard to come to the conclusion that this hits certain demographics harder than others but you keep relying on fear tactics that are spoon fed to you.

Ha...I know you're kidding but literally people accuse other people when you suggest opening up more of the economy. Keep thinking your Amazon packages are safe. Walmart is safe. Coscto is safe. The point of the initial shutdown was to not spread the virus fast so hospitals wouldn't get overwhelmed. We are past that. We are furloughing doctors and nurses. Makes no sense.
Yep. This is a much more political virus than it is a body virus.

Still waiting for those huge predicted outbreaks in Florida and Wisconsin that could only be prevented by arrests and Gov't growth.

My state of 6 Million had 119 die from Covid19 today. We get about 130 deaths from all other causes on a normal day historically. So NY may be an outlier but in good old rural Indiana Covid19 is almost equal to all other deaths combined today.

And? New virus that we haven't developed immunity to. Thank God this isn't like smallpox being introduced to the native Americans in the 1600s.

Heres the weekly data.
Week starting - Deaths
3/16 - 436
3/23 - 2742
3/30 - 8381
4/6 - 13923
4/13 - 15017

Only a 1,100 increase in weekly deaths is a good sign.
Week starting 4/20 - 14512

Our first weekly decline in deaths. This is pretty solid as deaths lag behind by about 2 weeks. If we kept up with social distancing over the past 2 weeks we should see that number drop hard by mid May.

New York is down to 3rd on the daily death list. The rest of the country is making up for it. I'm curious what our curve would look like with NY taken out.
Not nearly as steep, for sure. We'd obviously be on an uptick now but much more gradual, probably peak in a couple of weeks.

New York will flatten just from 30% of citizens infected already.[/QUOTE]

Bingo, The #s won't stop, but will not overwhelm the hospital system over the summer, which was the goal of social distancing. And to be honest, you don't want the #s to totally fall off the cliff. The best that could happen is nation wide 20+% of the population have had it and are over it. And if the worse hit areas..ie the Big cities have 30% who have had it. That is the only way you slow the 2nd wave, without a vaccine being available earlier than anyone expects.

Now I really don't know what to think. If this is true, we really don't know how the virus is transmitted exactly.
Wonder what percentage of people are staying home. And what does staying home mean? It’s not really clear. You can catch it by going to pick up take out food or going to the grocery even if you are home from working. Also if you have family that live with you who aren’t staying home they can get it and spread it.

Because those claiming to stay at home are going to packed Walmart, Target, and Costco.

Beach = Bad for chud logic.
I kind of wonder if the virus can exist in people for much longer than we knew of, and it only thrives when people stop getting fresh air regularly. Kind of goes back to what the California doctors were talking about.

5/3 - 1153
5/4 - 1324
5/5 - 2350
5/6 - 2558

Death toll drops to lows we haven't seen in weeks and then jumps to highs we haven't seen in weeks.

Every week it's the same. No one reports on Saturday Sunday Monday. Everyone reports Tuesday Wednesday Thursday.
New York stats shot up yesterday because they are adding prior cases. They said it might be up to 1700 cases that get added to the roles.
