It won't die out completely. It will always be here and as antibodies drop over time people will become infected again, just like the flu. Regardless, the more people that get it and develop antibodies, the less it will spread. That's why it was stupid to close colleges and schools, because those people are the most well equipped to get it and recover in a short period of time.
What you say may be true but it also may not. We don’t know enough about the antibodies to know how long they provide immunity for. Smallpox was eradicated from the earth with less than 50% of the world population vaccinated. That doesn’t mean all pox viruses were eradicated, just this extremely catastrophic strain. This current coronavirus is a variation of a common virus which has been around forever. So yes there will be other coronaviruses, but not really comparable to this virus. For this particular strain, it will fall off once 50-60% are immune.
Its hard to compare the two because they are so different. Variola is a DNA virus and coronavirus is an RNA virus. Ill admit to not knowing what that means exactly but I know that they act differently when they mutate. Chances are, covid-19 will be around indefinitely, with seasonal outbreaks. Obviously the more people that develop antibodies to it the better, but regardless we are probably all going to get it eventually.
I think other countries have stopped it. What happened to that American exceptionalism? Or do you mean that we can't stop it because it will mean wearing masks for a few months and that's just too darn hard.
Push the spread out a few months and hundreds of thousands of lives are saved when we get a vaccine. It's not that hard to do.

I honestly think you underestimated back then and probably now as well. I'm willing to bet that we are well over 80 million infected already. By July 1 we will be double that or more and essentially have attained herd immunity.
