We’re so far behind in recruiting and portal, so let’s come up with a great offer for Will Stein.
I’m hoping Terry was giving Odom a trial run tonight. Big fail. The thought of hiring another old SEC retread is maddening. But a defensive one is the worst.
It is unreal how horrible his instincts are as an AD
So where are all the Sumrall and Odom fans at right now? Tell me how Frost would be worse?
LOL, doesn't decrease the risk Frost brings.....just takes some shine of Sumrall (who probably turned us down already) and Odom's (who we probably can't sell to the fanbase) resume. Now, a guy like Stein looks like a better alternative than he was 3-4 days ago.
I'm all for Stein.
There has been absolutely zero buzz on Stein to us. I don't think we've even spoke to him.
If we end up hiring Frost, TMo should be fired immediately! He could have hired Frost the day after Gus left, making him available for NSD and the portal. It would be a total breakdown of responsibility and every pain we encounter in the next year+ would be directly attributable to his inability to get the job done!

You never know.....Our job isn't that appealing to the guys identified as the top options (by media sources), now we would have to go further down the list. You could interview a couple of coordinators (or Silverfield if interested) and have an agreement by Wednesday.
Obviously TMo had some advance notice Gus was going. WTF wasn’t he prepared with a national search team to find us the absolute best? This whole affair is going to stain our program regardless of the outcome. Extremely unprepared, no media exposure to keep recruits or current players, no announcements re: signings until 1/2 Knight Nation raises the issue, doing the entire search in house? After all the BS he better deliver because this has been an incredible rookie cluster4#<£!

UNLV adjusted nicely on D in the second half, but Boise clearly is the better team. The redzone stuff though gives me Gus PTSD.
One thing to remember, however, is that UNLV made it here with their backup QB. Remember the whole Sluka drama? I think that makes their season even more impressive

Odom as head coach 42-32 (25-23 at Missouri )
Frost as head coach 35-38 ( 16-31 at Nebraska)
Imagine if Frost comes back to UCF and Rich Rod returns to WVU. Nice storylines for 2025.

Like, they don't even have the recruits listed on the UCF Knights web page. NADA. Like, HELLO...feeding us crumbs thru Marc Daniels ain't cutting it. Give us something. (This is all rhetorical, I have no intentions of going on campus with pitchforks).

Every time I see them mention the UNLV Coach Odom, I keep asking myself, "Is he related to Gerald Odom? Is that his son?" Gerry had one of the best records of HS coaches - something like 268-85-2. Merritt Island used to be one of the best football programs in the county, at least when I graduated 20+ years ago. Same with Kasper, Pribil, and Hodges. Pribil was a beast in the weight room!
Odom is a common name. There are a few way more known than some high school coach you mentioned.

McVay is that guy! Anything Frost took from that experience is money. And it works both ways…out of the game, McVay still thought enough of Frost that he brought him in to try and provide some value.
Different context, it was in response to a nostalgic reference to a time in Brevard county history when a couple of local High Schools were state powerhouses.
Hiring Odom will generate zero buzz, and the program needs buzz. But ultimately it's not about winning the press conference or the offseason, it's about winning on the field. His Missouri record doesn't bother me because if you were asked to name SEC teams it would be a while before you got to Missouri. They have good seasons from time to time but it is by no means an easy place to win.
I'm Okay with Odom. I'd prefer Scott Frost, but actually really am going to back any one picked except maybe Golesh.
