North Korea suspends nuclear and missile testing

Oh holy shit this is amazing.

Trump asked Japan prime minister Abe to nominate him for a Nobel Prize and Abe actually did!

Trump is thirsty af for a Nobel Prize that he hasn't earned. What an absolute wet pancake we have for a president. Just amazing, imagine asking someone to nominate you for an award.

Working towards eliminating North Korea's nuclear threat IS certainly worthy of praise. The problem is that we haven't seen any serious movement in that direction.

We've all had to watch in mortified embarrassment while that little two-bit dictator, Kim Jong-um, has played Trump like a damn fiddle.

i know its crazy that south korea and north korea are at each others throats like never before. their relationship right now is just as bad as the day we pulled our combat troops. not like these guys would walk across their borders and shake hands or have joint olympics teams or roads and train lines becoming opertational or demilitarizing portions of their borders.

getting played like a fiddle.

It sure seems like if Obama can win one for making speeches then Trump can win one for facilitating postive relations between 2 countries at war

The hilarious part was that some of the bystanders actually thought the lookalikes were the real deal.
 
What is most shocking is the red hats who thought that the reason we didn't have a deal is because no past president was as smart as Donald J Trump. He was going to go in there and make a tremendous deal and the NK situation was going to be fixed immediately.

What actually happened is that Donald Trump wasted a year learning what an Intel briefing could have told him in 10 min had he bothered to read one.

What's hilarious is that you would have been in hysterics, crying and bitching if Trump signed up to some perceived bad deal. Yet here, he walks away when it's clear the NK's aren't serious about key demands that Congress agrees on, and you're predictably just as pathetically partisan anyways.

Afterall, it was just last week that Obama era pissants were predicting that Trump would "cave" to Kim for political reasons......or whatever. Doom and gloom! We'll be removing troops from Korea for nothing in return! Zomg!!!

What I find particularly appalling is that when asked about the Otto Warmbier who was turned into a vegetable inside a North Korean prison, Trump said that Kim Jung Un assured him he had no knowledge of it. Really Donald???!?!?

I guess if you're a murderous thug dictator like Putin, Jung Un, or the Saudi Prince, you can sell our President -- and his butt-kissing faithful -- on anything.

Probably because that two-bit dictator used the entirety of the Obama Admin to rapidly develop his nuclear and long range missile programs and was threatening the security of every ally we have in the region, plus threatening the continental US if testing continued?

Oh yea, that's it! And while these "worthless" talks have been going on, that two-bit dictator hasn't conducted a single nuclear or missile test. Funny how that works isn't it? It's hard to advance nuclear and missile programs when you are no longer testing.

please provide a list of past presidents that have had a face to face meeting with the leader of NK. please provide the details of their deals. i will wait.

Wow. Trump being the first U.S. President to meet with one of North Korea's tin-horn thug dictators is a badge of honor??!?!?

The reason why no previous President met with Kim Jung Un or his Daddy was because we didn't want to give these little murderous thugs an international platform for crying out loud.

Yes, every single President before Trump, Democrat and Republican, wanted a denuclearized North Korea. But they were all smart enough to know that any face-to-face meeting with its leader should only come once a legit deal had been hammered out.

Any diplomat with half-a-brain knew that to do it before any agreement would only serve the PR interests of North Korea. But screw the diplomats, Trump viewed a meeting with Kim Jung un as a cool photo op and perhaps, who knows?, maybe even a Nobel Peace Prize, baby!!!
 
NPR notes that the Stanford NK experts who release an annual "heat map" of likelihood of war with NK have released their 2019 report, and have turned several key indicators to Green or Dark Green (which is good) and specifically credit President Trump and his direct discussions with NK as a reason.



Their report during the last year of the Obama era had every single indicator in deep red.

But meh - let's have the usual suspects whine about these discussions. They're the real policy experts here! Muh MSNBC talking pointz!!!1

Note to Hecker: When you already HAVE nuclear weapons that can reach the United States, what's the point of further testing?

Of all the 'so-called nuclear powers,' the ONLY country that has conducted nuclear weapons testing this century has been North Korea. It's been said that North Korea's nuclear testing was a political device to show the world "they mean business" by showcasing their scientific and military strength.

So what did testing accomplish? It resulted in the President of the United States agreeing to a high profile meeting with their leader, Kim Jung un. In fact, TWO of them.

Mission accomplished.

it sucks more didnt come from this meeting. clearly the first meeting was more productive but that still doesnt change the fact that right now japan/us/sk/nk have the best relationship ever. you do realize that right? none of that wouldve happened without trump. why is it so hard to admit that fact? tds

FWIW, warmbier was detained by NK under Obama and held for 14 months under that administration. Trump was president for 4 months before he was returned.

Let me get this straight, Crazy: Trump doesn't have to give a sh*t about a U.S. citizen who ultimately received a death sentence for 'shoplifting' in North Korea because it happened before his watch???!? Really???!?
 
The largest NK nuclear bomb has a blast radius that leads to a 100% death rate within 3 miles and a 50% death rate within 6 miles. While that would have a devastating impact on a metropolitan area it isnt exactly a society killer.

My point had nothing to do with pointing fingers. It's the fact that the President of the United States said he believes Kim Jung un when he said he wasn't involved in what happened to this U.S. citizen.

If you believe that, you probably also believe that the Saudi Prince had nothing to do with Washington Post writer, Jamal Khashoggi's death.
