Republican National Convention

The ban on travel from countries that had no ability to uniquely identify people that was misrepresented as a muslim ban was exactly what I'm talking about. It wasn't racist when President Obama's admin created the list and identified them as being so woefully deficient in infrastructure that they represented a very real risk. It only became racist when Trump attempted to mitigate the risk.

The very fine people was a cherry-pick as were the Mexican comments. You're proving my point. It's exactly the cry wolf pattern where you stretch so many times to find something to complain about that the real times where you could interpret the actions that way are lost on people.
I meant the comment as candidate Trump that we need to ban all Muslims "until we figure out what the heck is going on". I forgot about the birther stuff with Obama, pretty racist. He called Mexicans rapists. "They're sending people that have a lot of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." He's said so many things. You are twisting yourself defending them.

Ever heard of Ed Calderon? He's a former Mexican NARCO Soldier that lives here now and has done 2 JRE podcasts. He agrees with Trump's assessment in terms of the people paying to be smuggled into the US. There are tons of bad people involved on both sides of the border. He was in Mexico and documented his time in northern cities as the caravans came through and documented how many drug dealers and smugglers were apart of the caravan - including the locals in these towns who wanted the caravan out ASAP since it contained so many criminals.

The birther stuff very well could be a sign of him being racist. But him and Obama had some issues before that and they both brought them into the public sphere. Obama used his podium to rip on Trump well before Trump entered politics and I think that's why Trump ran for President in the first place.

He didn't call Mexicans rapists. That implies that he said all Mexicans rapists and that is blatantly untrue. He said that some of the people that came across the border were rapists, criminals, etc. and that is absolutely true. Your media and Democrats, and you apparently, decided to forget how to comprehend spoken language and shortened that to "Trump said Mexican rapists." You can't read even the short snippet that you posted and come away with him saying all Mexicans are racist, yet you did and you then say that I'm twisting it?

Trump plays the racist fear-mongering game regarding immigrants coming from Mexico but your panties are in a wad because some folks took his dumbass remarks to mean -- gasp -- all Mexicans are rapists?

Glad you 'untwisted' it for all of us. [eyeroll]

The actual quote is in the middle here it is.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

"They're not sending their best" should put it into perspective

Hurricane is coming. Chaos on the street. The president needs to president.

Exactly. I don’t know how anyone that got past a 6th grade education could possibly interpret that as “all Mexicans are rapists.”

He literally said “they’re rapists”. He didn’t say “all of them are rapist”. He also didn’t say “some of them are rapists”. He went off on a typical tangent and tried to reel it in by sprinkling in a “some of them, I assume, are good people” at the tail end of the rant.

Pence: "Cities and shit are gonna burn to the ground, anarchy like a mutha fukca if Biden gets elected!!!! For a glimpse of all of this, take a peek out of your window to see the shit going on right now on our watch!!!!!!"

Did they run out of Trumps and girlfriends/wives of Trumps? Combined the Donalds have 3 ex wives they could still call on.

And inbreds on here actually believe it. We are too stupid for a democracy to function.

Pence quit Catholicism and ran to some heathen form of Protestantism where reading is optional. He can suck on the biggest bag of lemons in history.
I was listening to former DHS employee this morning who said that in the past her votes were based on Policy, Character and Competency. Now that the Republicans don't have a platform, policy isn't a deciding factor. Clearly the Trump/Pence ticket fails on character and competency.

Yup. I will never understand how people will fall for this sort of messaging. It is almost as if they are pretending that Trump hasnt been president for almost 4 years and this is all happening under someone elses watch.

I think Republicans view it more like "If biden gets elected this will get worse" because Biden doesn't really have much of a law and order message that he's conveying.

I understand why Republicans want to push this message, I dont understand how people fall for it. The only way someone can believe this is if they either have no clue what is going on, or they choose to believe Republicans over their own eyes and ears.

Unlike Trump?

Can you imagine the monumental irony of a "law and order" message coming from a President who has shown a complete and utter disrespect for the law during his tenure?

Ok, so you're agreeing with me then. That the context of all of that section of the speech made it clear that that the Mexican people that were being sent across the border to make illegal crossings do not amount to all Mexicans (which is a nationality and not a race) and also that not all of the people coming across the border are rapists or murderers. But you're turning it around. As an American citizen, why are you so much more worried about Trump's sloppy off-the-cuff speach than the convicted rapists, murderers, drug cartels, human traffickers, etc. coming across the border that raise hell in our communities and often prey on those other nice people that come across the border more than anyone else?

Of course, I'm sure you'd rather POTUS only speak to you in prewritten speeches that say nothing but are vetted through focus groups so that they have the highest chance of evoking an intended emotional response in the audience. That give no insight into the actual beliefs of the POTUS or his intentions or even his activities. Nothing but empty words. Would that make you happier?

It's almost like Biden doesn't have a 47 year history of actions to look back at and Harris's significant history with law and order didn't exist because they assumed a policy position to try to win a job.

Huh? This is hilarious. Two of the bigger criticisms for Biden and Harris have been that they have been too tough with regards to this stuff (Biden with the crime bill, Harris as AG of California), but now all of a sudden their history is too soft on it?

But BTW, moving the conversation from Trump to Biden, still doesnt mean that this isnt happening under Trump. Again, this is Trumps America right now, you can dismiss that all you want and for some reason try to blame it on Biden, but it is a 100% true statement this is happening under the supposed law and order presidency of Trump.

They're kind of in a catch-22 on it. If they come out and embrace it, they'll alienate a pretty good part of their base. If they don't, they lose that ground to Trump.

So if I vote for Joe Biden, I will get riots and chaos in the streets? 🤔 🤔 🤔

More chaos. More rising violence in cities where the white liberal insistence on defunding PDs against the will of their black citizens continues and grows. Yes, all of it.

I am talking about how Republicans are trying to push this message about law and order, while all of this stuff is happening under their administration. It is just bizarre how any reasonably intelligent person can listen to them essentially say that the America we are currently living in, is the Biden/Harris America. It is literally the America we have under Donald. So basically, Trump needs to be elected to a 2nd term, so save America from Trump's first term? This is basically what they are saying.

You've got to shake your head in disbelief at Trump's campaign message and the way chuds like 85 eat it up:

"If you think race relations are seriously f*ked up under MY WATCH, Joe Biden will be even worse!!!"

The point is pretty simple - basically 100% of the current rioting, looting, firebombing, and assaults in the streets are coming in D run cities, in mostly D run States, by left wing zealots, and these people are being coddled and encouraged by left wing activists across the nation.

Electing Biden who will be a puppet for the growing left wing extremist part of the DNC base will only further coddle and encourage this left wing violence and anarchy under the guise of "social justice"

I dont disagree with any of that. Short of Trump sending in the military and ignoring federalism, he can't really point to anything that he does to keep order. His best play is to run against the democrat platform on the issue, which he is kind of doing but putting Biden at the forefront opens him up for criticism.

Oh, so Trump shouldn't try to deescalate the situation because it's not part of His America? Heck, since it isn't His America, why not jack-up the tensions, right?

Every time I think Trump couldn't possibly stoop lower, he does.

It is just a strange strategy to me. I would think it would be better to almost down play it. Not ignore it, ignoring it would look extremely out of touch, but to basically act as if things are mostly under control. Instead, they are almost going the opposite and acting as if the country is on the brink of destruction, and I guess just hoping people forget that the country being a disaster, is on their watch.

I dont think it really matters if they do or dont. I think a lot of people out there are just tired of all the drama surrounding a Trump presidency, and want to see things get back to normal. I dont think reminding everyone what the country looks like after 4 years of him being in office, is a great strategy.
