Come on. I get what you’re saying, but it’s a little more nuanced than that. I don’t like Bill Maher, but what he did was make a poorly thought out albeit racist joke. Totally inappropriate and he got a suspension, but it was obvious he doesn’t truly harbor those racist beliefs deep down. The same cannot be said about Roseanne. She has a history of this. ABC knew the risk when they hired her. They deserve some blame in this.

While I agree with you on that one thing, he's really 'pushed it' many times. If the parties were switched, Maher would have been canned a half-dozen times based on his 'extremely insensitive' phrases he's used many times towards Conservatives, especially minority Conservatives.
There is a total double-standard. The biggest one is towards the Jewish. The second biggest one is calling every 'bad' situation with a Latin-American as a 'white [privilege] American,' and only when it's a 'good' situation do they refer to them as Latin-American or Hispanic.
When we start holding the media to those 'same standards,' I'll really change my view. Until then, Rosanne was wrong, dead wrong, but there's already a darth of Entertainment with a Conservative slant these days. The 'majority' gets away with a lot.
The last time I can think of anyone getting fired, and it was more of a 'straw that broke the camel's back,' was Don Imus. But Imus had a long-standing history off-air, and had only survived because he was popular among Progressives, and known for being controversial on-air.
