Desantis considering sitting out '24?

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. He is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If he runs against Trump, Trump is going to tear him apart and his tough guy persona might very well take a big hit. If he waits until '28, he could very well be old news and not much of a contender.

***UCF PFF Defense Player Grades - 17-14 loss vs. Navy ⚔🏈

Rivals has continued its partnership with Pro Football Focus (PFF) which grants me access to their comprehensive analytics and statistical tools.

After each game, two separate analysts grade every player on each play of the game and the two totals are averaged out. Obviously no subjective ranking system is perfect, but I am finding that my real world impressions of a player in a certain game usually reflects the PFF grade.

PFF Grading Scale

90 and above - Elite
80 to 89 - Great
70 to 79 - Good
60 to 69 - Average to Above Average
50 - 59 - Below Average
49 and below - Poor

I told myself…

This year did not matter. (You know I rarely post, I have been a memeber here since month 1, and read it religiously. I have been attending games since 1980 and rarely miss a home game.)

Every game and every year mattered so much. We had to get noticed. We had to win. We needed credibility. We needed that golden ticket. We did that… So, having secured that dream, I said this year doesn’t matter. So what if we finish with 4-5 losses. We do have a great program and great coach. Our future is so bright.

But I’m still heartbroken after the loss yesterday. It does matter. We all know the mistakes and the what if’s of yesterday. I agree we were outcoached. But put some blame on the defense. They let long chunks of the clock just go away. We need the ball more to win. Anyway, this pain will subside.

Deflating loss but still some salvageable pride to play for

We’re still 2-0 vs ranked teams, if we can beat usf and get in the conference game, there’s a chance we could be ranked depending on some other games. The rest of the country isn’t doing well outside of 10 teams.

At any rate, a conference championship and T25 season are both attainable. It would be an improvement over year 1. It sucks we didn’t have the QB to take us to a NY6 bowl but we knew that preseason. We just had too many moments of failure and not enough consistency. We still have a great chance to close out a very decent season.
