OT: SEC arrogance on full display - should a 9-3 SEC team get a CFP berth over an 11-1 team from another conference?

And yes, they mean any, ANY other conference.

"If you played a tough schedule, a 9-3 team better be considered," Alabama AD Greg Byrne said. "I've heard we're pretty good in football in the Southeastern Conference."

"If all they [selection committee] look at is a shiny win-loss record at the expense of teams that have played good schedules, then people stop playing good non-conference games," said Florida AD Scott Stricklin, a member of the selection committee from 2018-20.

"There's a weight on the committee that's new … I want to see how the committee processes that," SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said.
...
"The interesting thing is the team [from another conference] that doesn't play a regular schedule that goes 11-1 or 12-0 and how that compares to a 9-3 team that plays eight top 25 teams," Stricklin said.

College Baseball will go from 11.7 scholarships to most likely 35 per team

@mptposted in the baseball portal thread this article which I think is big news.

SEC Commish is getting his wish to make baseball a full scholarship roster sport so come Fall 2025, programs can offer (most likley) 35 full scholarships per team compared to the 11.7 they can offer up today.

Of course with NIL $$, scholarship limits for major programs don't matter much anymore but for most other programs, this will be a big jump in expense (including housing, along obviously with tuition, dining, etc...)

Now if Baseball jumps from 11.7 to 35 scholarships, that's a jump of 23.3 scholarships and your program will still have to be in compliance with Title IX so this might mean a school might have to add 1 or 2 female sports (at a big cost) just to remain in compliance.

I wonder what Coach Wallace thoughts are on this?

INTERVIEW w/Alan Gooch: Do you want to be a college bowl game scout?

The Sons of UCF have teamed up with the StaffDNA Cure Bowl to promote the 2024 event, slated for December 20th in Orlando. However, have you ever wondered how teams are chosen to play in these games? Each bowl sends scouts to watch teams and learn more about their program. Sounds too good to be true? Well check out this report from Trace Trylko.

Wayne Densch Charitable Trust Makes $2.5 Million Commitment to UCF Football

Press release:

When UCF’s football team returns to the practice field later this month, the Knights will be playing on the newly named Wayne Densch Practice Complex.

The complex’s new name recognizes a new $2.5 million pledge commitment from the Wayne Densch Charitable Trust in support of the Hagle Football Gateway project on UCF’s campus.

“Secret” clearances….

For those who have ever had any type of special clearance level at work, there is something I have heard people espouse over the past few years who claimed to have some sort of clearance level like classified, secret, whatever. So… typical convo goes like this….

Chad Van Douchnozzle claims to have had top secret clearance in the military. Chad will rattle on about how he knows about classified military operations, capabilities of black aircraft programs, who killed the Kennedys, and where we keep alien tech.

Not sure why this infuriates me so much other than I’ll either tell Chad he is full of shit, or egg him on to hear more outlandish bullshit. I mean, I has a series II clearance, and the only info I was privy to was SSN numbers for working on a payroll system. Did I miss out on the meeting where everyone with a clearance is debriefed on… like everything?

Just wondering if any of you had similar experiences with super secret squirrel agents out there.

I'm feeling more secure that UCF has another experienced QB (Jacurri Brown) to

back up Jefferson.

Jacurri spent two seasons with the Miami Hurricanes and appeared in nine games with three starts (including Miami's Pinstripe Bowl loss to Rutgers on Dec. 28.).

I thought Timmy could be that guy but he didn't have what it takes to make it in the BIG 12.

Running backwards for 30 yards in the GaTech Bowl game freaked me out!

Thoughts?

OT: Update: Elon to move SpaceX and X HQ out of California to TX. Incredible SpaceX Moon Launch as scene from UCF this am

From an amazing Dungeon Duo who capture many shots from UCF's campus.

This early AM launch is set for a Lunar Landing on Feb 22nd.

Trajectory to the Moon took this launch angle almost straight up vs some lower orbit launches which go off at different angles.

It's already on its way to the moon after separation from the Falcon 9 rocket:

“12 Saturdays Away from the Return of #Big12FB 🏈” Hype Video/Reel

12 Saturdays Away from the Return of #Big12FB 🏈

If you blinked at the 0:16 mark (EDIT: and again at the 0:24 mark), you wouldn’t know that we were in the conference 😆 Regardless, it’s still a pretty damn cool video.

I’m incredibly pumped for the coming season. The ten regular season games I’m planning to be at this year (7 home games + gata, Iowa State, and WVU) will tie my personal record set in 2014 (6 home games + Mizzou, UConn, usf, and NC State in the Piss River Bowl). Hell, maybe I’ll break it in the postseason.

***Four-star DT Jarquez Carter visits UCF: 'I felt like I'm a player here' ⚔️🏈

elrnsp6ciwg9vm3kmijg

UCF has always been there for Jarquez Carter.

The Knights were the first to offer the Newberry (Fla.) defensive tackle in January 2023, not long after his sophomore season. He's since blown up as a national recruit with a four-star ranking from Rivals.

Between recruiting events, practices and games, Carter estimates he's visited UCF around a dozen times. But his most recent visit was special as it was his long-awaited official visit.

"It went great," Carter said. "I was able to connect with the players, like Ricky Barber and Keshaun Hudson. I felt like I'm a player here. I felt like me and Coach (Kenny) Martin have known each other for four years. He was the first coach to really start recruiting me. We have a special bond. Coach (Gus) Malzahn, you can tell he's willing to give his all. Like John Walker, since he got here, he's put in his all to help him as a person and help build his network. You don't see many head coaches do that at the college level."

OT Athletic:

Deep dive into anonymous feedback from 40 people connected to college basketball.

Some P5's (includes Big East) have $5 Million plus NIL $$ Budgets and average salaries for hoopers dwarfs that if most football scholarship players due to small roster size (13).

Maybe the craziest story in below article:

Team ran out of NIL $$ but HC had a chance at landing another top player. AD told him to go get that player signed and we will worry sbout getting more $$ later.

Good read on this "new" sport that doesn't have many rules.
