OT Athletic:

Deep dive into anonymous feedback from 40 people connected to college basketball.

Some P5's (includes Big East) have $5 Million plus NIL $$ Budgets and average salaries for hoopers dwarfs that if most football scholarship players due to small roster size (13).

Maybe the craziest story in below article:

Team ran out of NIL $$ but HC had a chance at landing another top player. AD told him to go get that player signed and we will worry sbout getting more $$ later.

Good read on this "new" sport that doesn't have many rules.

Gus Malzahn excited about Ladarius Tennison's potential impact

pgadjszbyjw1hxz60urh

Gus Malzahn is expecting a big year from Ladarius Tennison.

The UCF newcomer by way of Rockledge, Auburn and Ole Miss wasn't among the five players he brought to Big 12 Media Day, but Malzahn wanted it known Tennison will play a vital role on the defense.

"Ladarius Tennison, I did want to say something about him," Malzahn said during last week's Big 12 Media Day interview on ESPNU. "(Tennison) was at Auburn with me, then went to Ole Miss. He was their starting will linebacker last year. He's from Orlando (Rockledge). He's going to play boundary safety for us. He's an NFL-type guy. One of the best special teams players in college football."

Tennison is among several experienced transfers expected to fill starting roles on defense. He has one year of eligibility remaining after beginning his career at Auburn (2020-21) and then moving on to Ole Miss (2022-23). He entered the transfer portal last December and enrolled at UCF in January.

Lots of love for Taylor Hendricks and UCF MBB today

This afternoon in the Jazz summer league game. Taylor is 8/8 from the field through 3 and the announcers spent a good 10 minutes talking him up and then cut to UCF highlights from the AAC. Then spoke at length about CJD and how he’s building the team and how good we’re gonna be in the Big 12. Glad Taylor is doing well and hope he gets a lot of playing time this season.

Gage King prepares for final season at UCF, excited to face former team

hoi70j3p9zz8trvcwuae

Following a successful debut as UCF's long snapper, Gage King returns for his final season in 2024.

After spending four years as a backup at Arizona State, the California native entered the transfer portal in December 2022 looking for an opportunity to start. UCF had an immediate need with Alex Ward moving on to the NFL.

"They were kind of the first school to actually reach out and offer me a scholarship," King said. "They showed they wanted me. I came here and had a great visit. Great weather good area, good coaches, good school."

Ward actually played a big role in his recruitment.

"I feel he had a say in recruiting and bringing me here," King said. "When I came on my official visit he was my host. So I met him then. And then when he was training for the NFL and Pro Day, I got to snap with him and see his philosophy on snaps and tried to implement what he's doing.

"Then he was back (in the spring) so I was able to talk to him about his first NFL season, what were his pitfalls, the good and the bad, just learning. I love asking guys who have made it to that level what they do and where they struggle. So if I get that opportunity, I can use what they already did and apply it to myself."

Miree already camped at UCF earlier this summer. He told me he plans to return to campus next week for another visit with the Knights' staff. He'll also visit Florida while he is in the area and will round his summer with a local trip to Cincinnati. During the summer, Miree has also camped at Notre Dame, Miami, and Ohio State while also visiting Wisconsin, Illinois, Oregon, Arizona State, and USF.

Florida State & Clemson to the XII??!?

I heard this rumor hit the interwebs yesterday and was surprised there hasn't been any comments about it here. It sounds like Yormark is willing to make those schools (and I also heard Notre Dame mentioned) the highest paid programs in CFB if they joined the Big XII.

It may just be summer talk but if Yormark could actually pull this off, the future landscape could be a three conference super league.
