Future Recruiting

I know we are dealing with 16 - 18 year old kids...but I wonder how many of these recruits show up for the "free" festivities. After all...what other school can offer theme parks, etc? I know it's to our advantage, but it must be really difficult to determine if there is a true interest in UCF. If this staff can keep landing 4+ star players...I guess I have my answer, but it won't take long for the word to get out about a great weekend without any interest or obligation. Thoughts?

***UCF offers 2026 QB Noah Grubbs / Updated June 2024: Commits to Notre Dame 🏈

UCF sees a big future in Noah Grubbs.

The Lake Mary quarterback made a name for himself last fall when he became a freshman starter and helped the Rams go deep in the state playoffs.

"It was a great feeling," Grubbs said. "I was able to get in during the second game after our quarterback's helmet came off and my first ever play was a 68-yard touchdown. In the third game, I got put in after halftime. My first play after halftime was a 60-yard pass and we ended up scoring. It's been great. I was able to learn another quarterback's wing and now I'm here."

Grubbs didn't hesitate when asked about his favorite freshman moment.

"Most definitely beating Seminole in the second round of the playoffs," he said. "After they beat us at our home 43-6, which was embarrassing to our school and our fans, I wasn't going to let that happen again. We went to their field in the playoffs and beat them 12-8."

Primarily a defensive battle, Grubbs threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 1:13 remaining. It snapped a five-game losing streak to Seminole.

A week later, Grubbs and Lake Mary gave Apopka everything they had. Grubbs completed 19 of 35 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Darters won 30-23.

On the recruiting front, Grubbs has been on UCF offensive coordinator Darin Hinshaw's radar for a long time.

"I've had a close bond with Coach Hinshaw," Grubbs said. "His brother Tyson has been coaching me since I was 7. Coach Hinshaw, when he was at UAB, was actually my first ever offer. I went to campus and he saw me throw, so he's known me for a good bit."

Following the season, Hinshaw, himself a former UCF quarterback, returned to his alma mater as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Grubbs got his offer when he came over in late January for Friday Knight Lights.

"I think Coach Hinshaw likes the way I can scan the field, from one receiver to another," Grubbs said. "He said I have the arm talent."

Virginia Tech also offered around the same time.

"Seeing all this interest, knowing I'm so young, it really motivates me," Grubbs said. "I really appreciate the fact they trust in me to continue to develop."

On Saturday, Grubbs made the short drive over to UCF to take in a spring practice.

"It felt like home," Grubbs said. "I wasn't nervous talking to any coaches. It just felt so normal talking to Coach (Gus) Malzahn and Coach Hinshaw. I liked how everybody knew my name. They were all welcoming. I'd have a nice conversation with a coach and then another coach comes up and we'd talk. I felt at home even more."

Head coach Gus Malzahn also spent time with him.

"I had a meeting with my family and he and his wife," Grubbs said. "We were just talking. It wasn't just about football, just learning each other's backgrounds. It was a great time with him."

Grubbs has a busy camp schedule mapped for the summer. He knows he'll be at the UCF quarterback camp in June. It's likely he'll return for another spring practice and it's a lock he'll be at games this fall.

"UCF is going into the Big 12," Grubbs said. "I'm only 25 minutes away. There's nothing better than that."

Would you trade Utah to the ACC for FSU?

Utah for FSU?

  • Heck yes!

  • No, we can’t let the annual Holy War game end again!

Results are only viewable after voting.

The silly ACC rumors, and the conferences lining up behind the ACC on public records issues in the Florida AG’s lawsuit. Let’s make a deal and it goes away.

Big 12 trades Utah to the ACC for FSU.

Both sign a new GoR free of the defects FSU has alleged with the ACC contract.

NCAA Regional Final: UCF 8, Alabama 7 ⚾

I have paid zero attention to Alabama this year, but taking a look at their schedule and stats:

  • Their OOC weekend schedule was pretty weak: Manhattan, Valparaiso, Lipscomb (swept all three). They did play in a solid tournament in Frisco, TX that included #21 Indiana (win), Arizona (win), and #23 Dallas Baptist (loss).
  • Offensive stats look pretty darn good. Five starters batting over .300 with a couple other guys with a lot of AB's also hitting over .300. Team batting AVG of .301 and .910 OPS. Our pitchers are definitely going to be tested.
  • They actually have fewer stolen bases (29) than us (37), so they don't run much.
  • Pitching wise, none of their starters look particularly scary. They do give up the long ball (85 compared to our 47). Their walks and strikeouts are pretty comparable to our stats. Our WHIP is a little lower than theirs. They've given up 327 runs to our 263.
We should be able to put up some runs, but it looks like it's going to mostly come down to our pitching being able to limit their potent bats.

Quick glance at Alabama baseball

I have paid zero attention to Alabama this year, but taking a look at their schedule and stats:

Hyping up the 2024 class and easing some UCF fan panic

I've noticed that even before the early signing day, many UCF fans have been panicking about the future of the program (or simply forgot how good of a class this is). Too many people are going by the overall ranking, ignoring the fact that UCF didn't just add a ton of 3 star kids to boost the overall ranking like other schools did nationally. I stumbled across this video of a coach who is decently known around GA talking about the UCF class. He has no ties to any UCF commit or UCF at all. If you have some time, give it a watch and realize the future is EXTREMELY bright.

Yes, UCF is looking for a 2024 QB.....but most need to realize it was/is going to take a few years for us to be where we feel we should be. We truly got some dogs in this class.

Also because I'm in the mood to make another graphic, of the 2024 kids.....in this thread, who should I make a graphic for? I ideally want to make it for one kid and I'll let the dungeon decide (I'll count whoever has the most votes randomly one day).

Now he does say UCF may add like 10 more guys by NSD.....that isn't happening lol but he also isn't connected to UCF so he is just throwing out that random #.

The video isn't anything crazy btw, just an outsiders view of things
