***UCF to host transfer OL on official visit***

Official visits don't have to occur exclusively on the weekends.

Jordan Brown, an offensive tackle transfer from Charlotte, tells me he will begin an official visit to UCF today (Monday). He visited Auburn over the weekend.

There is an interesting link to UCF OL coach Herb Hand. If you recall, Hand was part of the Tom Herman Texas coaching staff that was let go following the 2020 season. Then in early February 2021, Hand agrees to coach at Charlotte under Will Healy. He recruits for the 49ers, offering and landing a commitment from Jordan Brown (who signed in February). A couple weeks later, Gus Malzahn gets the UCF job and Hand comes to Orlando.

Brown is originally from Long Beach, Calif. and was attending Jireh Prep near Charlotte for high school. Not exactly sure of his full story, but perusing his Twitter shows FCS offers during his recruitment. Charlotte was his first and only FBS offer.

He redshirted in 2021 and played in five games as a backup left tackle this past season. His most extensive action came against Maryland when he played in 24 total snaps for a 65.0 PFF grade. In all, Brown played in 62 snaps during the season with a 60.6 overall PFF grade.

Since hitting the portal, Brown has tweeted offers from Auburn, Missouri, Syracuse, Bowling Green and Old Dominion.

I didn't see any Auburn updates about his visit, but I would tend to think given his connections to Herb Hand this is definitely one to watch for UCF.

***Quick Update on WR Target***

I just got off the phone with Colorado State WR Dante Wright, who visited over the weekend. I'll post that interview soon - but long story short, he wants to commit but UCF is holding off, wanting to see if there's room for him. In the meantime, he's going to visit Temple this upcoming weekend (unless maybe UCF gives him the green light). He was actually back in Fort Collins and had a couple finals left.

Update from Ryan Wright of Rivals:

Coming down the backstretch of the 2023 recruiting cycle, college programs are making a big push for safety Harlem Howard.

The standout defender for Pompano Beach’s (Fla.) Blanche Ely is at the 20-offer mark with five official visits to play with until a decision is made. One paid for trip has been scheduled with a handful of programs trying to get him on campus before the Early Signing Period.

The first official set will take Howard cross country from Florida to Corvallis (Ore.). Howard plans to visit the Beavers Dec. 9-11.

“Our relationship is good,” Howard said. “I have a good relationship with the coaches and players. It is not like father and son, but it is a good relationship.”

Getting Howard to sign with the Beavers is not a far-reaching fantasy, he would have Sunshine State support from 2023 Oregon State commit Tastean Reddicks.

Howard shared how Oregon State’s staff is pitching him on committing to the Beavers.

“They are recruiting me hard,” Howard stated. "They are telling me a lot of stuff that most other coaches are not telling me. They are showing me a lot when others are not.”

Florida International and Akron are pushing hard for Howard, and so is Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky, and UCF. Howard shared his interest in the Yellow Jackets, Hilltoppers, and Knights that could lead to an official visit.

Georgia Tech: “Their recruiting coach is best friends with my head coach, and he knows my mom too. I haven’t built a relationship with him yet, but he knows my mom well.”

Western Kentucky: “My uncle knows their defensive coordinator (Tyson Summers) and defensive backs coach (Keynodo Hudson), coach Mookie; that’s what I call him. They’ve known each other a long time. They have come down to see me practice.”

UCF: “We started talking around August, in early August, right before the season started; we’ve been talking ever since then. (DB) Justin Hodges (Western HS) plays for them, we are friends.”

Howard has not set a commitment date, but plans to sign during the Early Signing Period.

I did my part

Submitted a pretty decent complaint around conflict of interest, tampering and illegal activities around NIL to the FBI online complaint form.

We have players making $10M and others making nothing. We have collusion between public universities and private entities. If the NCAA basketball scandal was worth a look, so is this.

I realize most entities are following rules, but at least it comes across someone’s desk. I’m sure I’ll get some hate, but for those that can appreciate I wanted to share. NIL is great, but it needs governance. Especially with it’s ties to public universities.

Plus: this is the dungeon. This is why we’re here.

What is truly amazing about the Georgia Run-off...

I can't tell you anything about the candidate's positions on issues. I can tell you that the Democratic candidate was certainly more polished and appeared more like a senator than the republican candidate. Warnock won by not being as bad as the GOP selection. They just kept putting out Walker's past and saying "How can you vote for this guy?"
I mean Hershel Walker as a senator...? he had absolutely no business running for Senator. He lost because he struggled to put two sentences together.
What does that say? The GOP think voters will vote for a day old Ham sandwich if they are told. While it almost happened it does say a lot about the GOP voter base.

It's totally "Team" politics at it's worst.
