35 exotic/Controversial UCF Sports associated pictures, including Hula Bowl Practices

Hello UCF Sports fans. I would like to share 35 pictures with you for your enjoyment.

In the last four days I had fun at several UCF Sports and several Hula Bowl Practice events.

I attended the UCF Women’s Basketball victory over Houston on Tuesday evening.
Our Women‘s Team is now 11-2 overall and 3-0 in Conference. Sunday we host usf at 3:00 pm.

Wednesday evening while attending the UCF Men’s Basketball game there were some fun picture opportunities.
Out Men’s Team is now 10-4, having just beat Memphis 74-64. Saturday we play at usf at 7:00 pm.

I have an update on the UCF Baseball Scoreboard and some tidbits about UCF Women’s Softball to share.

I attended three straight days of the Hula Bowl practices Wednesday through Friday and have a lot of interesting pictures including two which I will save for the last. Most pictures feature McKenzie Milton and Cole Schneider. They will be starting for one of the Teams Saturday.

Due to the fact I have 35 pictures I will be splitting them up into several posts.
Thats much easier to post in case something screws up.

First off let’s start with the Tuesday evening Women‘s Basketball victory over Houston 62-59.

During halftime I went down court side and talked with UCF AD Terry Mohajir concerning the UCF Baseball Scoreboard update and Women’s Softball upgrades.

Terry indicated the new UCF Baseball Scoreboard will be installed in time for the first UCF home Baseball game February 18 against Siena.
He also indicated Women’s Softball has had their locker room upgraded and padding was installed on the outfield fences. A new Scoreboard for them will come in the future.

I took this picture of the old UCF Baseball Scoreboard.
Other recent pictures showed an incredible amount of rust when they disassembled the previous scoreboard. No wonder it wasn’t working very well these last few years and that is probably why the company went out of business. Substandard product.

Here is what is left of the old scoreboard.

During halftime of the UCF Women’s Basketball game vs Houston they interviewed our UCF Women’s Softball Coach Cindy Ball-Malone.
She is getting her Team ready to start the season with a tough Tournament right away. Check out this tough early season schedule for our UCF Women’s Softball Team.

I took a few pictures of our UCF Women’s Basketball Team as they were leaving the court after our victory over Houston.

Look at the far left in these last two pictures and you will see AD Terry Mohajir congratulating our players as they leave the court.

***Updated 1/14: UCF no longer set to host OL on official visit***

With the spring semester transfer window closing, recruiting attention will soon shift to junior college and high school players left unsigned after the early signing day.

It remains to be seen how much action there will be on that front since the vast majority of quality players signed early, though UCF is focusing in on an offensive tackle from the JUCO ranks.

Lisala Tai, a 6-foot-7, 336-pound offensive tackle from Snow College in Utah, says he will be in Orlando this upcoming weekend (Jan. 14) for an official visit.

Earlier today, Tai tweeted a top six of UCF, Jackson State, Boise State, BYU, West Virginia and Fresno State. He was offered by UCF in late September. He added that he has a Jackson State visit scheduled for the Jan. 21 weekend.

Tai was initially signed by BYU in the Class of 2016. I found a radio interview he did with an BYU outlet in May of 2021 that fills in the gaps on what he's been up to for the past six years.

He was initially going to go on a Mormon mission immediately after high school, but his grandmother suffered a stroke and so he needed to help out the family. He then fulfilled his mission in the Houston area from 2018-2020. From there, he enrolled at Snow College later in 2020. They played a spring season in 2021 and another season this past fall.

Tai should have three seasons of eligibility remaining since he can get an extra year for playing during the COVID season of 2020-21.

Rising 3-Star 2023 Florida WR David Jester planning UCF visit

Homestead High School (11-2) was one of the best teams in the Florida 7A ranks during the 2021 season. One of the rising stars in the 2023 class to emerge off the Broncos’ roster was David Jester. College coaches are finding the 6-foot, 3-inch, receiver seeing his offer sheet rise to 10.

In addition to being a big target with great hands, Jester is an excellent run blocker helping spring his quarterback and running backs for explosive plays downfield.

The offers sheet for Jester is dotted with teams like Ole Miss, Miami, Louisville, Penn State, and West Virginia. But the one school he wants to visit coming up is UCF.

The Knights offered Jester on July 27, 2021. Jester explained one of the reasons why he wants to head to Orlando.

“The way they throw and run the ball,” Jester said. “I want to go out there to see how that looks in person.”

Kevin Smith to Hurricanes

For MBB, how are we going to compete in Big 12?

UCF MBB had the most disappointing and costly loss today against Temple. We went from Mountain Top beating Michigan to rock bottom after SMU and Temple loss.

That raises the question for me: how can we compete in the Big 12 in the nation's best Basketball conference. Big 12 ave NET is 34. And there are elite teams like Baylor and Kansas. Baylor won the national championship last year.

I was a student manager for UCF MBB team, We do not have good enough facilities. Our Strength Room is tiny and our locker room is small.

How should we support our MBB program? By attending games? Tonight's Game against Temple was just embarrassing. There are probably 2K fans there after a sell out against Michigan.

Our Donor support for MBB can not compare with Football. The recruiting budget for MBB is just not there either. To compete in Big 12, it comes down to recruiting. We need to recruit 4 star and higher rated 3 star players not just in Florida but in the nation.

Many of us want a Gus hire for our MBB program. I agree and disagree. We should give JD more chances. His recruiting has improved a lot and this year, in my opinion, is the do or die year for JD. We have the deepest team ever at UCF.

I still have faith in JD. He is a high character guy but when it comes down to Big 12, we need to do better.

How can we build a power house in MBB? That might be my pipe dream. But I honestly think we will, as I have been a UCF MBB fan for more than 15 years.

Hope you guys can share some of your opinions. Thanks

***Early look at 2022 football roster***

Scholarship players listed. I hope I didn't skip over anybody. I'm not going to bother with "redshirt" whatever (unless they redshirted in 2021) because there are a lot of variables whether guys have additional eligibility due to the COVID year. I am counting 76 scholarship players among the returning players (making assumptions on a few), 2022 signees and transfer commitments. Obviously this is a fluid list - more transfers should be committing soon and it wouldn't surprise me if other UCF players hit the portal as well. Roster can change after spring too. I put an asterisk by the expected newcomers (recruits/transfers).

85 is the scholarship limit. Gus said they had "about 10" spots remaining at the NSD press conference and they've since added one transfer (Koby Perry).

***Transfer Portal Update - Crunch Time***

Classes at UCF began today, so the clock is now ticking for admitting spring semester transfers. While Gus Malzahn didn't give a firm date in his podium remarks on Sunday, he did acknowledge while walking out they probably have until Friday at the latest to get a player admitted into school. That puts UCF at a disadvantage because there are schools encouraging targets to visit them this upcoming weekend, and UCF really can't wait that long.

I'll go ahead and relay a few things I've heard, though hopefully I can find out additional information later. It's not as easy tracking transfers.

-WR Kobe Hudson (Auburn): He visited UCF this past weekend. Ryan O'Keefe and Isaiah Bowser were working on him. He apparently told players he would be deciding between UCF and Alabama, but South Carolina is a legitimate player as well. There are rumors on the Auburn Rivals board today - posted by somebody who has been very credible in the past - that South Carolina is the favorite, though I don't think they even know he just visited UCF.

I've heard UCF felt confident after the weekend, but the longer it goes without an announcement is concerning because that means he's still shopping. South Carolina was apparently hoping to get him on campus for a visit ASAP - like UCF, their first day of classes was today as well.

-OL Ryan Swoboda (Virginia): Another weekend visitor. The current OL who were in town were working on him. He had been slated to OV to Miami this upcoming weekend, but he canceled that and scheduled Virginia Tech instead. UCF sources had felt very confident, but he can't drag it out and take another visit this weekend if he wants to come here. He's going to have to decide if he's ready to pull the trigger now on UCF.

-OL Tre'Mond Shorts (East Tennessee State): Another player who was quiet on socials about visiting, and a similar situation to Swoboda in that he has another visit lined up this upcoming weekend - to Nebraska. I heard more chatter about UCF confidence in Swoboda than Shorts, and if he is sticking with visiting Nebraska then it would be too late for UCF.

-LB Kris Moll (UAB): He told Rivals Portal yesterday he was working to set up visits with UCF and Fresno State. He's a Miami native with one year left, so if he had a committable offer from UCF you think he'd jump on it. I have checked in with him today, but haven't heard back.

And as the clock ticks, I'm sure UCF is working every angle to close on targets, names we know or maybe do not know. Off the top of my head, just speculating, in addition to WR and OL, UCF could use another experienced LB (not sure how ready the freshmen will be) and defensive line. Guys like Miami DT Jade Silvera - obviously UCF is all over him but so are a lot of other schools.

Final: UCF 74, Memphis 64 (interviews & photos added) 🏀

UCF is on a two-game slide after dropping games to SMU and Temple, falling to 9-4 overall and 1-2 in the AAC.

Memphis is on a three-game winning streak. After starting AAC play with a loss at Tulane (missing their top players due to COVID), they've since won three straight vs. Wichita State, Tulsa and Cincinnati.
