SANFORD, Fla. — A rising star at UCF and a prominent local attorney teamed up today to feed hundreds of families in Sanford.

UCF basketball power forward C.J. Walker partnered with Dan Morgan of Morgan and Morgan to put on a turkey drive at the Westside Community Center in Sanford.

In all, they gave out around 200 turkeys and Publix gift cards to families in need.

There haven't been too many players who left UCF and excelled at their new program. I few that come to mind:

1. Will Stanback-got booted, went to Virginia Union and killed it their for a season and then got drafted by CFL. Led the league in rushing this year.
2. Noah Vedral- Bounced around Nebraska and Rutgers. mediocre career
3. Tre Neal- went to Nebraska and ended up starting all 12 games and was productive

UCF would obviously love a 6-3 guy like this but I wonder if he follows Lincoln to USC. He could go probably anywhere. He was No. 1 for OU in receptions with 39 and second in yards with 399, and tops in TDs with six.

I've seen some speculation on here about KZ's next move. Because there's so much emotion with KZ I'll offer you a little insight to what I know. The rest of this thread is under assuming he's coaching NCAAF next year and not playing elsewhere (NFL, CFL etc). Most agree his playing time is all but over.

This shouldn't come as a total shock to anybody but there are several offers out there for him. Some GA, some staff. Programs I've heard are interested are: Florida State, Ole Miss, Nebraska. It sounds like there might be even a couple more. My recommendation is to keep an eye on UNL. Frost has to basically rebuild his offensive staff and there could be an opportunity there. Admittedly my direct connections into UCF are a little limited right now as I'm not tied to Malzahn or mostly anybody else currently on staff. I saw someone mention on here has a standing offer from Malzahn -- I wouldn't be surprised if true but I cannot confirm UCF specifically like I can the other programs I mentioned

What we really need to talk about UCF. It's clear the fans view Milton as an heir. Is it smart for Milton to "go home" right away? Milton being exposed to other coaches/programs will be better for his development in my opinion. Frost is a good coach and they have a bond. Nebraska is going to be a good football team next year (hell they were this year, by far the best 3 team win I've ever seen per film). Maybe "buying" on UNL is a smart move right now. Additionally, emotions are high with Milton and UCF right now so it might be wise to wait before going back to Orlando. Then again, he's probably just one of those guys that is always going to have high emotions around him whenever he's around UCF no matter if/when he lands in Orlando again.

I thought I'd try to start the conversation up away from the DG stuff since this will be its own developing situation as I'm quite confident UCF fans, particularly those on here, are watching his every movement. What do ya'll think? I'm assuming the majority want him back in Orlando ASAP but am generally curious how you envision what is believed to be an heir to the UCF HC job's path to be.

I believe he has had lots of off field issues but is electric on the field.

My ass is still in full pucker mode. When we didn’t capitalize and punted from our 34 up only 4pts I had a bad feeling. I hate giving the ball back to any team with a “chance” to win let alone usf and that entire drive I kept thinking they were going to score and it was going to be a massive fall out. Crazy shit kept happening on that drive up until the very end but thank the baby Jesus we pulled that one out because if we didn’t, damn I don’t know what this recap would have looked like but we won and now 7-6 all time against usf. For the first time in my life we have a winning record against usf. Feels great...

UCF Fast:

• Defense: Entire defense gets a fast. Defense won this game, no question. Bethune had another monster game. JJB was hitting hard, Barber, Big Kat, and TMB flashed on the line, secondary was decent. Some Bravehart sounding mo Williams Wallace or Wells or whatever had one of the plays of the night on the blitz sack. Never even heard of that guy and Twill sending him on that blitz was a thing of beauty and he got the QB on the ground. We sacked him 6 times and he got out of another 6. Defense was on the field a lot and they kept at it. I thought Divaad should have knocked that one big pass they had at the end down but other then that defense did really well. Cant ask for more then holding a team to 13 pts. I mean we should win any game we accomplish that.

• Crowd: Props to us. Crowd was thick and was loud. We absolutely impacted the game. I don’t think usf heard a crowd that loud all year. We caused issues and God help those refs at the end had they let usf had another play. I felt like our entire section was going to go onto the field. Lots of passion every year for this game, loved the atmosphere. Well done.

• Punt Return Trick Play: I loved that play. Not sure where we pulled that out of and it still baffles me how that worked but it worked great. Well done.

• Johnny Richardson: The one puzzling thing for me in the game was that JR was gashing usf in the first half of that game and then Gus went away from him and ran MAR exclusively for like 4 drives almost all of which we went 3 and out. I cannot make sense of why JR didn’t get more touches during that stretch. JR carried the ball only 8 times for 94 yards averaging 11.8 yards a touch!!! MAR averaged 5.2 and MAR’s average really pumped up on that last drive. There was a point in the game where MAR had more carries then JR and MAR was averaging 1.8 yards to JR’s 9 yards. Not sure why we went away from him but that draw play on that 3rd and long was all JR. He has bailed us out numerous times this year with crazy runs like that. I called that draw play before it happened and I have to assume usf’s coaches did as well but JR still turned that into a big play and that is just inexcusable for a defense to let that happen at that point in the game.

UCF Slow:

• Stadium Music: Can we please dump the boy band bullshit? If you want to play nsync and backstreet boys and that type of shit do that at half time or during some kiss cam crap not in the beginning of the game when the crowd is in crazy hype mode and we are loud and getting after the opposing team. We went straight from zombie nation to nysync on the first music break. How the hell does that pump up a defense or a crowd? It is like we are cooling ourselves. It’s a football game, just drop that crap from the play list. I have said it before and I will say it again now, I always felt that UCF could set up a DJ booth in the middle of the student section upper deck area and have a legit DJ do the entire game music. You couldn’t do that at Alabama but you could do that at UCF. The right DJ would work well because it would bring more students out, it could be a draw and a difference maker for UCF. Music is huge to the fan experience. We could do better.

• Keene: Keene looked solid early but then the wheels fell off. He was getting blitzed like mad and even when he had a pocket he panicked too quick and ran out right and I don’t think he completed one pass while scrambling to his left or his right tonight. He looked extra slow in any run attempts. I believe he is banged-up and to me he looked compromised. It wasn't all bad though, props to him for not taking any sacks vs. Mcclain who was sacked 6 times. Keene did a good job getting rid of the ball and protecting the ball, no fumbles no picks. I think it is a lot to put on an 18 year old true freshman. I don’t think true freshman are ever going to be great but I felt tonight against that usf defense that he would have been able to do more then he did. For those of you that shit on Gus’s play calling I think Keene’s limitations are more of the issue then the play calling. I get the play call with the throw back to Keene was classic Gus out coaching himself when he gets inside the 30 but I also know from experience that trying to call plays when you don’t have what you need a QB is not easy. You can have the greatest play dialed up but if the QB cannot execute it or a QB that can take a bad play call and make it look good then it really doesn't matter how good of a play caller you are.

• DG: Figured I would weigh in with my DG take. I do not know what he is ultimately going to do. Seems crazy to me to think he would leave a starting QB job at a school like UCF, seems like you are walking away from too much of a sure thing for an unknown but who knows. What I do know is that every game he sits after being medically cleared to play is hurting his image here. It is one thing for an average day to day player to make the call to sit themselves, but DG is QB1. He is the leader on the team. It should kill him to have to watch another QB throwing passes to his guys. That should have eaten him up most of this season and the first chance of being able to get back under center you would think nothing would hold him back from doing that especially when the QB that is in there is struggling and we are losing or risking losing games we would almost certainly win with a more experienced QB. Forget about the fans what do the players and coaches start to think of a guy that is doing sunglasses releases and building a brand while voluntarily not playing football when the team needs you? My assumption is that DG is getting advice that if he doesn’t burn the red shirt it increases his leverage and that maybe right but it doesn’t mean that play doesn’t come with any downside and I think folks are going to remember this about him. He is lucky we beat usf because had we lost that game I would have been right there with folks blaming DG for the loss. It is one thing to not play against UCONN which we should beat with Dinovo at QB but usf, to risk that game, that one is different. Now my assumption is that DG will want to play in the bowl game because he can play in it and still not burn the red shirt. It is all upside for him and "the brand". After all there is no brand with out football. It is an interesting call though for Gus, if DG doesn’t guarantee he is coming back does Gus then play Keene to help him along OR does Gus play DG to give us the best chance to win? Not sure what will happen. DG is incredibly talented but the way he has handled the last few weeks has not sat well with me. Just seems like he is putting himself before the team and when QB1 does that it stings more.

• Obarski: Dude has the leg to make these kicks, his accuracy is the issue and thank goodness he made the 3rd one but he had to at least split the first two. In a game like this when our offense is struggling like they are to not get points when we are inside our 25 yard line is unacceptable. Almost cost us the game tonight. I think he is now 5-10 on the season, woof.

All the props to Gus, the staff and the players for keeping their heads up through this season. We had so many crazy injuries and to go undefeated at home and win 8 games with a chance for 9 in a bowl game and beating usf is a successful season in most normal seasons let alone one where we lost or QB1 in game 3 along with like 10 other major contributors at different points through the season. If you would have told me before the season we were going to lose DG in game three and we were going to start a true freshman all year and still win 8 games I would have not thought that was possible forget about all the other injuries (WR1, RB1, DT1, LB1, Head Coach, etc…). I feel optimistic about the future because these kids are fighters. Not sure who will come back but I am confident Gus will make the right moves in the portal just like he did this year and we will figure it out. This year feels similar to how i felt at the end of 2016 and i trust Gus more today then i trusted Frost post 2016, hopefully we dont have a curebowl level let down. Go Knights!!!
