2020 Democrat hopefuls

Maybe you should quit being such a dik and realize the NYT doesn't change one iota of what I said about Trump's self-promotion regarding a military decision.

I know, you're an Obama and HRC fanboy, so you'd much prefer if we went ahead and actually bombed a place into a total shithole like Libya, then went on national TV to brag and say things like "We came, we saw, he died" like some pompous cheerleader celebrating the destabilization of a country.

Hmm, what could fix this? Oh, I know - the media's refusal to quit running these stories, paying their "sources", and soliciting these people to break the highest of laws in this nation to shamefully leak stuff to the press that has no business being leaked.

Good grief. Are you simply not capable of holding this administration accountable for anything? If leaks are coming from the White House (which it appears they have been), then someone in the White House needs to fix it. That is the common sense answer. If you think the media isn't going to run news then you are delusional, and if you don't think the media has tried to get these types of things from every administration you are delusional. This administration is just especially bad at stopping the information from getting out. It could also be fixed from the inside, but that would actually require them doing something right.

I thought you were hell bent on defending Trump's self-congratulatory televised interview??!?!?!? But now you're gonna play the 'b-b-but THEY DID IT too' card?

For the record, Hilary's comment that you quoted was picked up off the record in a break from formal taping--you know. just like Trump's 'you can grab 'em by the pussy when you're a celebrity' comment. If you wanna talk about pompous cheerleading, that gem takes the cake.

Shookster thinks that Trump simply describing how he arrived at his decision is worth going into hysterics over yet voted for this display of horseshit:

I agree it should be addressed. It'd probably be easier if there weren't people who actively want to take down the President and are willing to do it from the inside in coordination with the media.

But the point stands- the NYT didn't have to run it. I am 100% sure that they have received information in the past, during other Admins, that they knew contained information that didn't belong in print and chose not to run it. Yet during the Trump Admin, every single thing that is leaked from "anonymous sources" has ended up being run by the media. It's pretty easy to see what's going on here.

It's exactly what I described -- or are you going to tell us all now that the clip you shared was actually part of a formal interview???

And regarding Trump "simply describing how he arrived at his decision," ask any General who has advised the President regarding Presidential greenlighting of military operations and he'll tell you that Trump gave a great display of horseshit.

I see. So gloating to your buddies in the media that you just destabilized a northern African country as Sec of State, and did so without any sort of stabilization plan is just fine and dandy, so long as it was done off script and informally before the actual interview.

Got it. Bravo on that thought process.

Yeah, riiiiiiiiight. No news agency would ever break an exclusive news story if it might hurt a Democrat President. :)

Yet during the Trump Admin, every single thing that is leaked from "anonymous sources" has ended up being run by the media. It's pretty easy to see what's going on here.
Yes, it's pretty easy to see what's going on here: An administration in chaos.

Yeah, it is easy to see. This administration has no control over it's staffers.

The NYT can run whatever they wish. If they obtain it illegally that is another story, but someone inside the administration just giving them information is perfectly fair game for them to run. The NYT (and other papers) have a history of running this type of information. The NYT's ran the Pentagon Papers for goodness sake. You are simply trying to re-write history by trying to make it out to simply be something against Trump.

Sure looked like she was joking around to me.

i mean its not like there are active slave markets there right now or anything...

ANTI-GUN CANDIDATE ERIC SWALWELL BECOMES FIRST DEM TO DROP OUT OF PRESIDENTIAL RACE
by Kevin Ryan

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has become the first candidate to drop out of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. The congressman made the announcement at a press conference this afternoon.

Swalwell’s signature proposal was a $15 billion buy-back of semiautomatic “assault weapons” and a ban on their possession. The plan drew the ire of gun owners, some of whom warned such a confiscation could provoke war. To which Swalwell responded “It would be a short war... the government has nukes”.

Swalwell has languished for months near the bottom of the polls. Montana Gov. Steve Bullock looked set to bump him from the July debates, and Swalwell was unlikely to make the October debates, which have much higher qualification thresholds of 130,000 voters plus 2% support in four polls.

He also announced he will launch a reelection bid for his fifth term in the House.

Anyone can run on the democratic side. Just one up the other candidates on free stuff (aka stealing from the productive). Simple plan!

Biden can't raise money either. This race will come down to Warren and the booty guy.

so the beta cuck dropped out. i read that castro was able to raise the funds to stick around a bit longer.

deadline for the next debate is nov 13 and the debate itself on nov 20. i guess we shall see how many stick around for the next debate.

Unless something crazy happens it's down to Warren, Sanders, Biden or Buttigieg.

I can't see anyone else being able to stick around for long enough.

hillary has been popping up in the news more and more lately. i wonder if she is considering running again.

Kamala Harris Argues Racism, Sexism Jeopardize Her Electability

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris described electability as the “elephant in the room” of her campaign and pondered whether America is ready for a woman of color to be commander in chief.

i saw this the other day and couldnt help but laugh. this is the dnc primary and not the general election. shes basically saying that her own party is racist and sexist. lol

The headline is pretty misleading. Electability is most certainly a big part of the Democratic primaries, and not just with her. But, considering we have had 1 black person and 0 females to ever be president, to act like electability wouldn't be a topic surrounding her campaign is pretty naïve IMO. I don't think that is why she is losing however, but I don't see anything wrong with what she said.

I hope it’s Warren. Insane, unfeasible socialism and left wing culture war sounds like a winning recipe to me

Biden technically leading the Polls while not knowing what State he is in half the time is a bit of a downer

I'm not sure how to gauge what 'lane' is the winning one bc I think turnout may break records if 2018 midterms is any indicator.

Imagine a 2016 Democrat saying "Right-wing nationalism and a culture war sounds like a winning recipe to me." Pretty short sighted right?

I actually think this will be fascinating. Left-wing economic populism vs right-wing cultural populism? Don't underestimate the appeal of economic populism from the left, particularly as a rebuttal to Trump. Remember during the primary season last go around, Bernie substantially outperformed Hillary in head-to-head match ups against Trump. And there's a reason that 12% of Bernie supporters voted for Trump during the general election.

Part of it was dislike of Hillary, but part of it was also the populist appeal. But Trump keeps digging into his base without expanding it. That leaves plenty of room for another populist to grab the persuadable folks who don't have hardline opinions on every issue, but instead listen to ideas. Warren is going to have a very, very good sales pitch to that group and I don't think screaming "socialism" is going to be enough when the alternative is Trump.

Pundits completely got Trump's appeal wrong. They are similarly getting Warren's appeal wrong also. The establishment types don't relate to populist appeal which I why I think they struggle to understand it.

Be careful what you wish for. The notion of an "insane, unfeasible socialist" winning the Presidency in 2020 becomes a hell of a lot more feasible when Warren's opponent is our batsh*t crazy Commander-in-Chief.

Imagine the GOP actually believing they can scare voters about Warren after four years of Trump.

Like I said, bring me your batshit crazy fraud socialist. Whatever Trump is, he’s not a socialist and not signing up to destroy the entire health care industry using bullshit fantasy land figures

Warren wants MFA by using lies as numbers and wants to gut the military by $800B while granting mass amnesty and promising open borders

Bring me that, please

I recall when Obama "destroyed the entire health care industry" with his evil Obamacare. After years of trying to repeal it, Congressional Republicans (like your guy in Florida) tried to convince their constituents that they were committed to protecting pre-existing conditions insurance coverage. Huh??!? What's that about, 85?

Of course, as a campaigner, Trump told the nation that his Health care plan was going to be beautiful. Three years in, I'm still waiting to see it.

Not even a disingenuous liar like you can try to equate the debacle 2017 health care votes to what a nutjob pushing MFA would do to this industry and our health care delivery.

swing and a miss take a lap

Yeah, Medicare is such a sham. Old people detest it. The notion of expanding it is 'waaaaay out there.'

Rahm Emanuel just came out against it as too radical.

Show me one credible study that proves that Warren's plan could possibly work. Go on, we'll wait. Everyone with a brain has already thrown her junk socialist bullshit to the trash.
