2020 Democrat hopefuls

Yeah, I do. They are on the eve of no moderate getting above 15% in many key states. They needed to consolidate or they were done. Biden won a single state, that is going to vote for Trump in November. Meanwhile he got wrecked in states that vote blue.
Biden has been running for president since 1988 and this is the first primary state he's ever won.

They should have consolidated around one of the other 2. Biden can't win.
People love debating the policies of candidates. We certainly do or we wouldn't be here. But elections -- at their core -- come down to the candidate's personalities. For all the talk of the Reagan Revolution, the fact-of-the-matter is that voters liked Ronald Reagan. When a man as honorable and respected as Senator John McCain can be beaten in a national election, you know the voters really liked Barack Obama too.

Ultimately, Trump won in 2016 because enough voters did not like Hillary Clinton. The negative response numbers for both Trump and Clinton were off-the-charts that year. So it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if the Democratic Candidate is someone who is universally liked and respected -- and not feared or reviled -- the Democrats have a damn good chance to win back the WH and more.

I dont think it would have mattered. I still think Harris presented the best threat to trump because she had a good mix of status quo/change/personal demographic but the other candidates saw the threat to them and went on the attack early.

If Biden pulls this thing off and becomes the Democratic Party's nominee, I predict that Kamala Harris will be Joe's Veep.

You all remember where you heard this first. :)

Which presidential candidate from the past is most like Biden today?

From a personality (versus political) perspective, that's easy: Ronald Reagan.
Seriously? Reagan was older, but he was quick witted and funny, possibly the best politician in our history. Reagan never got mad and talked about beating up his opponent behind the bleachers and then made nonsensical statements like Biden does.

Any Democrat is going to have trouble, I don't think Biden is any less likely to win than anyone else.
I'll ask you the same thing. Have you heard the man speak? He couldn't naturally consolidate moderates support so the party did it by getting people to drop out and endorse him. Normally he would have a big chunk of the nation that are excited about him. Joe has a big chunk of the nation that, yesterday, were excited about someone else.

If he can't convince people to vote for him over Klobuchar and Buttigieg how is he the best choice?

Voters of your political slant are going to find fault with ANY Democratic nominee. The truth is that no one hates Biden the way some hated Hillary. And good luck guys if you think Trump is going to successfully paint Biden as a 'corrupt' politician. :)

When Ronnie was running for his second term, anyone with a memory of the debates could tell you he was a literal 'gaff' machine. Did that hurt him?

Like Ronnie, Joe is a likable guy who is well-respected by friends and foes alike.

Donald Trump can't speak either and just won 4 years ago. George Bush was a terrible speaker and won twice. Plus, if the more elegant speakers were so great then why weren't they winning? I don't know what you mean he that can't get people to vote for him over Klobuchar or Buttigieg. Through 4 states he has almost twice as many votes as Mayor Pete and over 3 times as many as Klobuchar. ANd BTW, he has over 50,000 more votes than Bernie at this point. I am not big Biden supporter by any means, but I don't agree with the idea that he can't win. It is going to be a tight race no matter who the candidate is.

Gotta love the dems...

It was rigged for Hillary against Bernie 4 years ago, but everyone dropping out and endorsing Biden before Super Duper Tuesday is somehow different?

All his votes came from a state so conservative that democrats have no chance at winning it. It shouldn't surprise that he won the conservative states over the progressive candidates.

I could have sworn that the key to winning the Electoral College was turning some Rust Belt Red States back to Blue.

Are you seriously expecting Bernie or Elizabeth to do that?

It doesn't take away from the fact people are voting him. Again, I think it is going to be a tough race for whoever the nominee is, but I just don't see Biden being a terrible candidate as you do, at least as far as being competitive.

I don't post this because I dislike Biden. I post this because I want you to imagine what happens to him when he's the candidate. Biden grew up with a stutter. It's not a big deal. He's over come a lot. He makes a lot of mistakes speaking because of it.

But let's be honest. He's not the right one to do this.

But who is? Do you trust that people would really turn out for Sanders? I like Bernie, if he wins I will vote for him, but I do think his supporters (not sure if you are one or not) have this view of him that he is unbeatable and I just don't know if that is the case. For one, he does well with young people, but of course young people are the least likely to vote. And, I do think his policies make even a lot of the more moderate Democrats nervous. Bernie is by no means a sure thing to beat Trump.

Let's be honest, he's the best option available. Sanders? No. Bloomberg? No. Warren? No.

There's no 'perfect' candidate out there. But Joe can beat Trump. And even Trump knows it.

Bernie would need unprecedented support from young voters and great turnout. The head to head polls have him way ahead of Trump.

Warren could win easily IMO

What gaffes are you talking about? I've watched the 84 debates and didnt see anything that stood out. Hell, he even got Mondale to laugh a few times at his jabs. Biden in debates just comes across as angry and aggressive when he's still with it.

Reality Check: Winning the Presidency isn't about who's most popular overall. It's about winning the Electoral College.
And how many electoral college votes do you think Joe will get from SC in the general?

Meanwhile Nevada is a swing state.

That support literally hasn't materialized in ANY primary state yet, but sure. They'll all just show up on election day like young socialist dolts always do.

Meanwhile, the center of the country and Democrats who actually prefer market based economies will vote Trump.

I voted for Warren, I do have more confidence in her beating Trump than anyone else, but of course, doesn't look like she will be the candidate so it doesn't really matter.

The head to head polls assume those people are going to show up to vote, which has always been a problem with young people. Plus, national polls are rather meaningless. Clinton was also up in almost every national poll.

One of the few times I will probably agree with you, but this is true. As of now anyway. This could potentially change after tomorrow, we will see.

Exactly. And how did that work out for her? This year's election will be decided by who wins the rust belt states.

Agreed, and Biden has tried moving too far to the left for the people of Pennsylvania and Michigan in the primary. I could see him winning Wisconsin unless the convention turns into riots, but the manufacturing states where people are just concerned about jobs arent in play. Trump has those wrapped up.

Joe Biden thanks his rally supporters:

“It’s great to be back in Peru!”

Joe Biden is done. His multiple gaffes are only getting more numerous. Imagine him 4 years from now? Americans will not overlook this. His cognitive functions are going south

it’s going to be Bloomberg or Bernie now.
