2020 Democrat hopefuls

Bernie would need unprecedented support from young voters and great turnout. The head to head polls have him way ahead of Trump.

Warren could win easily IMO

As the primary is playing out, Bernie is not getting young people to turn out. Reading twitter, Krystal Ball, Gravel Institute, etc etc are all of course saying it is rigged and its Warren's fault, and other excuses. What none of them are acknowleding, is that is becoming increasingly clear that Sanders isnt expanding the base and young people arent bothering to vote.

  • In Alabama, only 7% of the voters were in the 17-29 range compared to 14% in 2016. Sanders won six of every 10 of those voters Tuesday compared to four of 10 in 2016.
  • In North Carolina, 13% of Tuesday’s electorate were young voters, compared to 16% four years ago. Of those, 57% went for Sanders in 2020 compared to 69% in 2016.
  • In South Carolina, young voters made up 11% of the electorate Tuesday compared to 15% in 2016. Sanders won 43% of those voters Tuesday compared to 54% four years ago.

In California people under 30 overwhelmingly supported Sanders, but they only made up 14% of the vote.

This is completely disenguous. He just thought they were on different sides because they walked up on different sides.

Maybe, but then again we're talking about the guy who frequently forgets what day it is, what he's running for, and who he is speaking to.

I dont understand how Trump people are trying to call this out. YOu have heard your guy speak havent you? Biden certainly has his share of gaffes, but no more than Trump.

There is a difference between being prone to gaffes and being in at least early stages of dementia. .Thinking Kansas City is in Kansas is a gaffe; not knowing what day follows Monday is something else.

Dude, Trump has sounded like he is in the early stages of dementia many times, and it has been called out many times. Neither are great speakers, they are both going to say stupid shit here and there. Trump certainly doesnt hold any advantage in being a great speaker.

Yes, but Biden is spiraling downhill. It’s a disturbing trend. How will he be in 4 years?

Trump has been spiraling down hill too, and Biden has always been a gaffe machine, so it isnt like he went from being a great elogant speaker to losing his shit. I get you guys and Trump are going to try to hammer this home, but you have to realize how you look at Biden in this regard, is how a lot of people have looked at Trump for years as well.

So much for the idea of Sanders having an excited base. They aren't excited enough to vote I guess

This was always my concern with him if he were to win. All of his "revolutionary" supporters on twitter are just that, revolunaries on twitter but not in real life. I like Bernie just fine, but his core base consists of a large amount of people who sit around and tweet and think they are accomplishing something.

the dnc is pushing bernie to the side yet again which is hilarious.
i hope the bernie bros bern milwaukee to the ground in anger because they rigged it for an almost 80yr old man in the early stages of dementia.

biden attacks his own supporters for legit questions. cant remember that hes running for potus instead of the senate. makes up fictional characters like corn pop. inappropriately kisses kids #metoo. talks about having little kids rub his leg hairs. the guy cant remember when super tuesday is. oh and he cant tell his wife from his sister. i feel like im forgetting a couple other gaffes.

that is the guy the dnc want to put up against trump.

How are they pushing Bernie to the side? THis sounds just like a lot of his out of touch supporters. He started out well in 2 mostly white states and in Nevada, and his people were already declaring him the winner before the South and states with large African American bases even voted. Biden simply does better among African American voters and white moderates and what was supposed to be Bernie's base, young people, arent showing up for him. The only people pushing him to the side are his supporters either not bothering to vote, or maybe it's that twitter isnt real life and his support wasnt as strong as it was made out to be to begin with.

What is hilarious is your lame attempt to play Trump's "they're ganging up on poor Bernie" card.

This was some smoke-filled back room deal? Last I checked, it was VOTERS across the country who propelled Biden's candidacy. Joe swept the south and even won Minnesota and Mass. Even though he may lose California, he will have been close enough that he leaves Super Tuesday with the delegate LEAD!!! Just a week ago the pundits were predicting Sanders would have an 'insurmountable lead' today.

Let's see if you're still "LOLOLOLOL"ing in November.

November? Trump will still excite the base and bring out voters as we've seen in primary states. Joe Biden excites absolutely no one. You'll see the black vote turnout plummet and the far lefties like Shook Chicken aren't going to be eager to run out and vote for Biden when they were promised a socialist revolution.

why did amy and pete drop out before super tuesday? there was no real reason to do so. they might have gained some traction. also what about past candidates all endorsing him heading into super tuesday?

it was a coordinated effort to boost biden as he was falling down while bernie was surging. the dnc is actively working against bernie. i cant wait to see what bloomberg and pocahontas do now.

It wasnt a backroom deal but it's pretty obvious that the DNC encouraged the others to drop out and endorse biden. Buttigieg had no reason to drop out on sunday

I routinely got posts like this on my old board from McCain and Romney supporters.

Funny thing, they weren't on the board crowing about my 'disappointed reaction' the day after those elections.

So what?

You and your buddies have been laughing for weeks and saying 'good luck in November' with nominating a self-proclaimed socialist for President. But when candidates drop out and coalesce around Biden, that's some shady, back-room deal??? Seems to me that the voters spoke last night--and did so in overwhelming numbers.

Just heard Bloomberg suspended his campaign.

Michigan will decide it. If Bernie wins the State like he did over Hillary in 2016, it could still be close. But if Biden wins Michigan -- and he likely will now -- the race is over.

Klobuchar dropped out because I think she felt she wasnt going to do well in her home state, and she didnt want to basically be embarrassed. Buttigeg you may have some point, although he was also losing momentum. It isnt like he dropped out while he was in the middle of a surge, he only got 8% of the vote in South Carolina.

Biden wasnt falling down. He just won South Carolina with almost 50% of the vote, and that was before Pete and Klobuchar bowed out. I dont know how you can interpret him dominating the most recent primary, one with a large African American population, as he was falling down. He beat Sanders by almost 30 points in South Carolina.

In the history of American Politics, you won't find a more dramatic shift in a Presidential campaign than Joe Biden's from last Friday night on the eve of the South Carolina primary to last night after the Super Tuesday results came in.

He got 8% in South Carolina. He finished behind Steyer for goodness sake. If he wanted to stay in that was fine with me, but he certainly wasn't doing well after getting beaten easily in SC.

Nobody expected him to do well in SC. I wonder if he'll keep his campaign funds and use them for a senate run.

McCain in 08 was pretty unexpected. He was polling in single digits until the NH primary.

I dont think anybody expected him to do well in the South period, he was never able to win over African American's, and it is almost impossible to win the Dem primary with as little African American support as he had. He had just as much, if not more reason to drop out as he did to stay in.

I admire Pete and Amy for dropping out when they did. When you've invested as much time, energy and emotion into a Presidential bid, it's got to be tough to call it quits. As folks here know, I liked Buttigieg but there was no way after South Carolina that he was going to win this thing.

So the right thing to do for both of them was to end their campaigns and support Biden -- which they did. Same with Bloomberg today. The only reason why you guys (and your Russian trolls) want to play the 'Poor Bernie' pity party is because you wanted him to be the one to run against Trump.

Maybe not, but everyone was very premature with their predictions after Nevada. Bernie did well in two mostly white states, and two of the first 3 states were caucus states. He did well with caucus states in 2016 as well. What we are seeing with Sander's isnt that much different than what we saw in 2016. Once the primaries started to open up to more diverse states, and states that were not caucus states, he didnt do as well. The same pattern looks to be holding this go round. In saying that, he is still in the race so I am not declaring his campaign dead by any means.

the country generally goes back and forth between the two parties. after one party controls the party for 8 years they move onto the other party. thats what happened to mccain.

incumbents are very hard to beat. that is what happened to romney. trump is now the incumbent.

im laughing because the dnc is actively trying to push bernie out of the nomination again. there was no reason for pete/amy to drop out before tuesday. sure they wouldve likely dropped out on wednesday, but it was a play to help biden. pocahontas policy wise is very close to bernie. itll be interesting to see if she backs biden when she eventually drops out. who knows what bloomberg will do now. who will he support? my money is on biden.

i dont care who the candidate is, i think trump will mop the floor with either. one has dementia, the other is a socialist.

Given the makeup of the Democratic electorate, you have to wonder why in the hell the party's first two primary States were lilly-White Iowa and New Hampshire.

How much different would this race have been if South Carolina had been the First Democratic primary State?

imagine all the social good those 2 couldve done had they used their money on social causes instead of their ill fated political campaigns? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOOLOL

I dont really get it either. You would think a more diverse state would kick it off.

Dammit! Bloomberg was my candidate. Hopefully he keeps spending money. Biden feels a lot like McCain in 2008. "It's his/her turn" didn't work for Gore, Kerry, McCain, Romney or HRC.

You must be able to tell the future. 1.) Bloomberg can afford to drop a half a billion, he'll probably make it back by the end of the year. 2.) Who knew that Biden would turn the ship around so quickly, he appeared to be sinking last fall. Bloomberg did the right thing with the information that he had at the time. If Biden had sunk, the choices were Bernie, Pete, Warren, Amy.
