Delicious Bull Tears Mega Thread

Dead Man Walkin'....

"I believe we've made a lot of progress," Scott said recently. "We've added a lot of depth and that's something I've been concerned about. One good thing about the transfer portal, you can flip your roster much more quickly than you used to.

"When you add high school players, they have to be developed before they can really help you. With the transfer portal, you can add players that can contribute right away and the relationships you have with college coaches, they're much more likely to give you an honest assessment of a player's ability, what kind of fit they'll be."

"But there's no question, it's time for us to have success on the field. We've laid the foundation with our staff and players. It's year three. We need to win."
Frost can come back as OC if/when Chip Lindsay leaves.

Edit: I'm an idiot. Thought this was a Scott Frost quote. Though both coaches are in similar situations.

And more BS from the crap pen this morning.....Bull Daly is trying to figure out what bowl usf should select to play in.

And another whack job proudly bragged that usf WON the transfer portal. A quick look at the ratings show them at #32, we are #15.
Its almost to the point of mental illness for them

That is somewhat true, but what bluechip high school recruit would want to go to usf knowing that the coach will quickly replace you with a transfer. Forget about developing a player, He needs to win and win now....aka, dead man walking...

"Then in a matter of two years, the Bulls became the laughingstock of the AAC."
LOL@Duh*Bulls from this article:

They were #1 for a day....in typical fashion they hold onto it forever. We will be hearing about this 10 years from now...."Remember when we were #1 in the transfer portal in 2022"

Correct, they added like 10 guys on the first day of the cycle before everyone else got cranked up. And all their guys were low rated so despite having 17 transfers in (including a former UCF OL) their low average puts them at #32.....one spot below Buffalo......pretty sure the myopic crowd thinks that is the Buffalo Bills.

But they were ranked #1 transfer class in the nation for a week…they love holding onto those short lived rankings

Here is a glance at USF new competition:
It's early in the 2023 recruiting, so far all of the new schools coming into the American are beating USF with more commitments. Oh NO!

USF commits 3, not ranked

FAU commits 11, ranked 83
UTSA commits 12, ranked 95
Rice commits 14 ranked 95
UAB commits 5, not ranked, one 4 star
Charlotte commits 6 not ranked
North Texas 5 commits, not ranked

they are going heavy on transfers and mailing it in on regular recruiting
And what a typical usf mistake this is.....they are not forging relationships with HS kids that will be in the portal in 2-3 years. They are so damn lazy in EVERYTHING they do.

This Scott moron though can find time to attend Clemson events wearing all Clemson gear.

It's player development over there. They always seem to land good recruits, they just don't develop them. I mean the last 2 years, they have been down, but Willie Taggert recruited a lot of good players, after that, I don't know what happened to them. If they don't start recruiting their area harder, then we are poised to move in there and start taking some of the better players that don't pick national powerhouses.

I don’t know about that, they haven’t landed good recruits for years. All of their recent recruits had minimal P5 offers, mostly competing against the lower G5. Hard to recruit and develop when you have bad coaching, losing culture, no facilities and a gym outside under a tent. Have you seen that gym lol? A lot of these recruits have better facilities and fan support at their HS. They are a sad state…

If there wasn't a competition for QB1 their fans have to be speculating about Bohanon being guaranteed the starting job as a condition to transfer.
This is the head coach selling out for possibly one good season. This is not going to playout well next year. Then again they are counting on less competition in 2023.

That's a bad overall plan. Unfortunately, you have to go all in and spend the money to do both now. You don't want to back off recruiting high school kids and establishing relationships with coaches and kids for future years, plus kids can transfer back to you in a future year as well. You also don't want to be known as a place that isn't high on transfers, because you can miss out on great raw talent that already has some experience with being a college football player, or plug holes with some veteran guys that can give you year until the raw talent behind them develops.

Dead Man Walking...

“I am confident that we made the best decision for this year’s team to win this year,” said the third-year coach. “That’s really the way to look at it. You can’t really think about what’s best for two or three years from now. In this environment, it’s about who gives us the best chance to win this year.”

I other words, he feels like he has the opportunity to be fired after this season. I mean, nobody wants to go to work and tank if you have any competitiveness in you at all, but if tanking means you essentially walk away with like 5 million in pay (2.something million for the year + 3 million buyout), then can live the rest of your days on your terms, well, that makes your whole view on "tanking" a little different. He can always blame the USF program in general on the losing, which that would not be seen as a cop-out, and can then point back to his days at Clemson (and whatever he was doing before that...if there was anything).

With his extension earlier this year I think Scott now gets 2.something million/yr (topping out at 2.7 million in 2026). He has a buyout but nobody is going to currently pull the trigger on that.

If USF fires him...
"If he’s terminated without cause by USF, the school owes him only 20 weeks of his $500,000 base salary (pretty standard contract language) though it’s likely Scott has a private buyout arrangement with the USF Foundation similar to predecessor Strong's." I found an article on Strong's "buyout arrangement" behind a pay wall so I don't know what his buyout really is.

I also found this about Strong's buyout, "Strong's buyout, split between the athletics department and the private USF Foundation, called for the school to pay him $2.988 million and change."
