The reality is more DA deals are made for privileged lawbreakers than you might imagine.
Making deals makes sense most of the time, privilege or not. It’s full-on dropping the charges after good and expensive policework has been done that is frustrating. The local SA here is horrible for dropping anything that is not a sleepwalk slam dunk to prosecute. Gotta keep those conviction rates up while also fitting your numbers to the political flavor du jour.
