Gus Malzhan offensive genius? More like FRAUD.

I like the Gus hire. He’s added a lot of new wrinkles to our offense. hes gotta have time to get his players in the program and then we will be flying around out there getting butter every week

give Gus time. 7-8 years at a minimum

And you caught a boatload…

You can write war and peace all you want but Gus is still ain’t worth a shit. Also when did ucf become a national program. I must have missed the part where y’all joined a power five.
I can name over half of the so-called Power 5 that is not only talked less than UCF, but has beaten fewer Top 10 teams the past decade than UCF (3).

Then you should tell the PAC-12, because they claim National Selectors as National Championships too. They even count Utah 2008 before they were in the PAC-12.

I liked Gus a lot. It broke my heart to see others denigrate him. I am 84 and graduated from Auburn in 1962. I believe in loyalty, so it took me about three- four years to realize we had a coach that would not take responsibility for his own actions. His megalomania thinking he was a brilliant coach wouldn't allow it. Time had passed his offense by and he made no effort to really change it. The better defensive coordinators in the SEC had his number and seemed to be in Auburn's huddle most of the time. You'll be ale to do the same thing sooner rather than later.

I think UCF is a fine school and have always loved watching your team play. My only advice is to save your money as you will need it for the buyout. It cost us $21M and it was our administration's fault for mistakenly giving Gus such a hefty contract with no offsets.

Again, Gus is a good man but does not need to be a head football coach.

Good luck.

Gus has had to change the paradigm here at UCF. He's having to rebuild from the Huepel-era which wasn't bad but wasn't great. There is lots of room to grow and I think he has what it takes.

I know there's a lot of Auburn trolls here laughing but we have the chance to really do something great with Gus. He has the passion and drive to get it done.

Ditto mobala on UCF... I lived in Orlando for 10 years and really liked going to UCF games and just the campus in general. We all had high hopes for gus and thought we had something special his first year in 2013 by getting to the NC game vs. FreeShoesU.

Like MT62 says, SEC DCs caught on to his O pretty quickly and he failed to adjust... damn if Jeremy Pruitt didn't know gus' offense better than gus knew it. Pretty funny (not funny) watching him @ spaut (UAT) as DC or UTn as HC calling the play for his defense prior to the ball being snapped... and he was always right.

Seriously good luck to you guys... maybe this experience will convince gus to make some changes to his playbook. I doubt it, but one can hope.

Do not be fooled. Gus is the biggest fraud of a head coach in the NCAA. He will fall backwards into a big win, or even produce a masterpiece of a gameplan/playcalling performance to beat a better team (2017 Iron Bowl). Do not be fooled. He is 7-5, and 7-5 is Gus. He will fail when it matters most. He always does.

Then what did you think of the state of UCF Football at the end of 2020, well before Gus?

Now add in the fact that Gus lost QB#1, RB#1 and WR#1 at Louisville, in a rebuilding year -- especially since we had QB and WR transfers -- and then lost yet more defensive players in a defense that couldn't stop BYU last year, and we suffered our first blowout in 4 seasons.

We also had 7 guys go to the NFL.

Obviously you weren't around for O'Leary 2003-2015. ;)

I only fear we're stupid in firing coaches like other programs.

Guess we'll have to reuse the old strategy of going winless and having our coach resign in a few years.

RW, love you but Gus is a scumbag.

So far we have had some bumps and bruises chip chip but I think we are going to persevere

Wouldn't it be something if UCF gets lined up with Auburn in a bowl game this year. It can happen. The football gawds work in mysterious ways!

You won a natty lol!!! That’s hilarious you think that!!
NCAA record book page 115. You do understand (or may not) that the only thing that needs to happen to claim a Natty is one of like 20-30 polls having you ranked #1. There is no actual college playoff or champ. That’s why they call it the mythical national championship. Oklahoma State put a commission together last year (or the year before and decided to claim a Natty for 1945). Bama (and I’m sure many others) have titles claimed where they lost their bowl game but back then you could claim Natty’s before bowl games were played….nice.

If that’s not then epitome of making fun of the whole FBS process, I don’t know what is. FBS football is the only sport on the planet that lets 13 people go into a room and decide who is better than who (on paper in a lot of instances), without having to ever explain why I might add. A process so awesome no other sport on the planet uses it, including all the other NCAA football levels. Our current system has an invitational tournament disguised by calling itself a playoff, and it is that in name only. It’s so awesome Bama and Ohio State have won CFI titles but didn’t play in and/or win their own conference title. So they are National champs but not champs of their own conference….got it. Makes total sense.

FYI, UCF needs to schedule some games with Arkansas. You will be guaranteed one win a season. Will be the only game he truly cares about. #TheGusBowlLives

I'm not believing anything this year in college football. I've seen too many upsets. I think there is a lot of parity in College Football this year with all the transfers and the mix up from 2020 year. It's very competitive. Many games have been settled late in the 4th quarter. A ball bounces there, a ball bounce over there, the result is different. It has been very interesting and entertaining year thus far. NFL as well. Go Knights.

And yet "championships won" (meaning conference championships) is one of the few actually stated criteria of the CFI committee. They started ignoring it the very first year.

In business isn't a committee considered the worst way to decide anything? We have pejoratives like "designed by committee" for a reason.

Then explain to me the strange use of J Gatewood? Better yet why was he used at all. Mikey K was doing just fine.
Using Gatewood was the biggest head scratcher to me when everyone knows he won't pass. He is not that fast to evade constant blitzes. Hopefully Gus learns from this and only uses Gatewood if he shows he can pass effectively which I do not believe will happen.

Didn't hear a damn word from Auburn fans when he was hired. Lost a heartbreaker at Louisville, was going to be a tough one anyway. Now they are taking over our boards. How about you guys go back to rolling a tree. Most Auburn people I know are not the type of people coming on here. He isn't your coach anymore, what do you care? I will pull for UCF everyday of the week. You so called Auburn people can go eat a turd! I will stand behind our players any day of the week, just tell me when you want to be there! Frankly, I like bumps in the road. I don't want it to be easy. Life isn't easy. I want the boys to have some adversity. I want them to get knocked on their ass from time to time. Life does that to you. You only know who you are when adversity comes for you. We were 0-12 some time back. Many of those kids went 13-0 a few years later. Tell me they aren't better for having gone through that. For the rest of their lives they know that if they work hard they can dig themselves out of any hole, just like the rest of us.

One other thing, why do you care? Don't you have your own lives and people in it to be concerned with (1)? Don't you have you own school to worry about (2)? You supposed Auburn fans need to come right on out admit you are really USF fans. That is all I hear when you speak. If you are Auburn fans you have said what you have to say, and we will take it in as this season and next play out (recruiting as well). IF you continue to post, we know who you are, Bulls in Tigers clothing.

You can post on here about how you have been an Auburn fan for over 50 years. Good for you and yours. Truthfully, i have watched Auburn play games for around 35 years (I was probably 10 when I could really tell the difference between schools) and I rooted for them in most games, except when they played OU (never did) or UF, I was a Gator in my late teens and early 20's, and of course when they played UCF. Honestly, I look forward to the next couple of years. It may be a bumpy ride, but that is what makes it exciting.

You always get a camel when a committee is trying to design a horse.

Posted to laugh about coach Frost taking over the scout team only to beat Navy by 10. Without frost we lose by 4.
How the hell Marsha beat them 49-7? 😂

For all those saying Malzahn was a bad hire, who would have been better / available at the time?

his hiring did bring energy back into the program, but he better back up all of the talk he did when he was brought on. He’s got 2 years to show major improvements or else he’s on the hot seat.

I would’ve rather hired Lebby. Lebbys offense is forward looking. Gus’ offenses were good in 2005. We 100% would’ve taken bumps with Lebby. But here’s the thing, Lebby has room to grow and improve. Malzhan has been doing this long enough to where what we are seeing now, is him. There’s no changing Malzhan at this point in his career. Which is really really worrying. Gus will recruit good enough to have us preinnally 7-5/8-4 in the big 12. Honestly, I would’ve rather taken a chance on an young offensive mind that can improve and grow rather than a finished article that isn’t even that great.

For all my negative talk on Gus, I really hope I’m wrong. I would LOVE to be sitting here taking crap from everyone for my opinion on him months down the line, cause if that’s the case then UCF is doing well and he’s doing well, and that is ultimately what I want most. I’m just very very worried about the trajectory of coaching from what I have seen so far.

I didn’t want to have Lebby represent UCF as Head Coach w his Baylor stink. And he was probably involved much more than in the documented reports. Glad UCF didn’t take that risk
