It’s his negotiating style and it works with the Asian leadership mentality. Koreans and Chinese are especially concerned with maintaining a facade of strength over their enemies, regardless of the realities. I’ve witnessed shows of false bravado time and again on peninsula. In the end, the only Americans they respected were the ones that negotiated as if from strong positions and stuck to their guns. If you have any experience at all in dealing with Koreans, Lil Kim’s antics seem very familiar.
As a side note, Trump has been doing business in South Korea for at least 20 years and is far more familiar with their cultural styles than most of the rest of us.
