We only had 2,500 troops in there. I guess they could have gone to the outskirts of the capital and keep the Taliban out.

I wonder if we were so fed up with them that the plan was to just give them the country back. There is a point were you say "I am out" and don't even go back for the deposit. We should do the same in Iraq

Amazing that ceding territory to the Taliban, withdrawing troops from throughout the country and reallocating them in specific spots near the capitol and embassy resulted in a decrease in combat deaths.
