Here’s the thing with letting him go. Do you think the guy’s just going to go peacefully once he’s at home? Or are you going to have to put more people in danger going and getting him? and that’s fine, maybe it was possible. What’s undeniable is that the suspect put the officers in that position. No one can say how they would react if it happened to them. Maybe you’re right and they could’ve arrested him without firing (although it didn’t work the first time they tried) but I don’t blame the officer for shooting at all.

He definitely put himself in a situation where at a minimum, he was going to get his ass severely beaten. Would have almost rather seen that.
