I've thought about this some, as I knew this day would eventually come & there's been many great Knights along the way. It's been a long haul and some can say if the right hires didn't happen we could very well been USF. I have my pick and hopefully we have a healthy discussion.

Food -our Best Recruiting return on Investment?

I’ve read on several threads how our food in the Garvy is better than most P5 programs. if true, seems like the old adage, the best way to a recruit’s heart is through his or her stomach is something to consider. No doubt hiring a couple top chefs, maybe we already have them, is less expensive than a lazy River. What do you think about setting a goal of having the best Food in the P5? and who are we up against to win the Food Natty?

UCF has had their eye on Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna offensive tackle Elvin Harris since last season and a recent spring recruiting visit from offensive line coach Herb Hand elevated the 6-foot-6, 320-pound tackle into a top target.

"It all started when Coach (Herb) Hand followed me during football season and started calling me," Harris said. "We had a UCF commit on our team, Jamaal Johnson, so they were always at the games. This past spring, Coach (Kenny) Martin, the defensive tackles coach, came down and saw us. He liked us, so they sent Coach Hand down to scout us. He came to one of our spring practices and offered me that day. He told my coaches that I was the type of player he was looking for."

UCF actually offered two additional Chaminade Madonna offensive linemen after Hand visited that day in early May: Tackle Deandre Duffus and center William Larkins.

A few days later, Harris booked his UCF official visit for the weekend of June 10.

"I'm excited about it," Harris said. "I've only visited once before. That was during my 10th grade year when I went up there doing a college tour with my school."

Jamaal Johnson, a defensive lineman in UCF's 2022 class, has already been in his ear about the Knights.

"He's been talking about UCF, why he committed," Harris said. "He said it's like a family over there and the coaches are great. He loves the head coach, Coach (Gus) Malzahn. I think I'll like it too."

Also visiting UCF the same weekend is Harris' teammate, Deandre Duffus.

"He's been my best friend since pre-K," Harris said of Duffus. "I've grown up with him."

Harris' other offers include Syracuse, FAU, Bowling Green, UCF, Akron and Tulane.

For now, UCF is his only official visit on the schedule. He wants to make a college decision by the end of June.

"I really like how UCF plays," Harris said. "I've been watching videos on Youtube. I like how their practices go. Everybody is working hard and competing to get better. I really like Coach Hand. When he came to the practice, he literally watched every move I made, all the drills. He's shown how he really wants to recruit me."

***Pair of interesting WR targets visiting***

I'm hearing a couple WRs currently committed to in-state schools will be dropping by UCF this weekend for unofficial visits.

Seminole WR Darren "Goldie" Lawrence was originally thought to be a UCF lean before committing to FSU on April 1. He had been previously committed to Florida under their previous regime. Anyway, Lawrence is expected to visit UCF tomorrow (Friday). Not sure if it's just a courtesy thing or what, but as we all know recruiting really isn't over until they sign.

Eustis WR Tyree Patterson was a bit of a sleeper earlier this spring... on a lot of schools' radars, but not a ton of offers. Florida offered in early April and he jumped on that one, committing about a week later. UCF offered him in late April. Patterson was originally going to take an official visit to UCF this upcoming weekend, but got in trouble with the UF staff when he publicized it. That being said, he is expected to visit this weekend unofficially as part of the Bounce House Weekend festivities on Saturday.

There is one WR visiting officially - Lamar Seymore who is still technically committed to Miami (committed a long time ago). I think there's a strong chance he eventually comes UCF's way.

Found a legitimate transfer LB in the portal

Not crying wolf this time.

This guy would probably be a plug and play Day 1 starter, especially with pending opening day suspensions among the linebacking corps.

He will need a waiver to be eligible, but he is definitely a player to watch as he entered his name in April 29. I assume he didn't care for the cold weather in East Lansing.
