The Coronavirus thread - 3/30 Trump accuses NY hospital workers of stealing PPE.

If you people paid attention to the Trump interview and to what I posted, you'd note that Trump opined his "hunch" based on ZERO EVIDENCE for crying out loud!!!

We're all supposed to applaud his off-the-cuff comments about a virus that he doesn't know sh*t about because it can be supported after-the-fact by some in the scientific community???!?

I love how Trump's blowhard bullsh*t gets scooped up by his little Trumpsters here. Well lookie there! Sirus XM Hotline! The NE Journal of Medicine! You've got Trump's bullsh*t all cleaned up so all is well and good.

Who gives a F if Trump talked about a pandemic out of the seat of his pants. It's all good now, right guys?
He said his hunch was based on talking to people that do this kind of thing everyday. That probably means experts considering the fact that he's the president.

Maybe his hunch was taken from talking to the multitude of doctors that are advising him and Dr Fauchi and all held the same opinion, you flaming dipshit?

He said his hunch was based on talking to people that do this kind of thing everyday.
He's POTUS for Christ's Sake!!! When he's asked WHY he questions the numbers, he says it's just a hunch...WTF?

OF COURSE he's in a position to hear from experts with all kinds of opinions. But if you're the one speaking to the world, you'd opine a contrary position and tell Fox News it's based on "just a hunch from talking to people"???!?

Seems pretty damn reckless to me. But I'm sure you guys are totally cool with it because it's "I could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and wouldn't lose any supporters" Trump.

I cant pretend to know what the best course of action would be, but it seems like isolating people with an infectious disease sounds like a good idea even if it means keeping them on a cruise ship.

Except he didn't say that. That's you creating a justification which would be appropriate. The justification he ACTUALLY used was inappropriate. Its not too difficult to live in reality and react to what was actually said and not your imagination is it?

What justification did he use? He said that numbers would go up, which is true. I really dont see what the hullabaloo is all about.

Holy shit did YOU just accuse someone else of utilizing confirmation bias?
I'm not the one trying desperately to justify an idiotic comment by our Blowhard-in-Chief.

Just imagine other professionals who the public depends upon to give honest, well-documented analysis instead of off-the-cuff bullsh*t.

Imagine a civil engineer who has been asked to examine a heavily-trafficked bridge leading into a city where there is local concern it's no longer structurally safe responding with...

"Hey, my hunch is it's okay."

Said it's not fair that our numbers would go up because it's not our fault... More concerned about who takes the blame than what people are recommending to him.

:joy:

Imagine being such a whiny little bitch that you put someone on ignore for "too many personal attacks" and then post shit like this daily.

You truly are a pathetic excuse for a person.

There’s a person in this very thread crying endlessly because Trump mentioned something in an interview based upon what doctors around him were telling him and recommending as an outcome. Which has since been reaffirmed by multiple leading doctors

Maybe you guys should get your sob stories About the President straight and regroup

You talking about the same president who "didn't know people died from the flu" when it literally killed his grandfather.

You are one dumb pedophile supporting bitch.

LOL Yeah, he mentioned "something" alright. He said, and I quote, "I think the 3.4% is really a false number... now this is just my hunch,”

If, as you claim, he had concrete evidence based on "a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this,” then for God Sake's tell Hannity who these people are -- and here's a thought: maybe mentioned the research behind their conclusions!

Did he do that? NO. His "something" was this gem: "this is just my hunch."

If this weren't so serious, I'd wonder if the clown act defending this nonsense was as bad the Clown Act running this country.

These Doctor/experts only have a hunch. No one knows for sure what this will do.

His job isn't to be scaring people to death. There are times you TDS people are right in what you say, but this is not one. The doctors don't have any concrete evidence. Just knowledge based on past history.

The 3.4% number is the rate of death. It’s the number confirmed dead divided by the number confirmed infected. That’s all it is. As with every similar rate, it can only count cases of known infection which is likely underreported. But nobody knows for sure and by how much. The 3.4% isn’t fake news or a reason to discount the WHO. It’s just the actual numbers.

in fact their statement even said that 3.4% of reported cases died. Trump then claimed it was a false number and the actual rate was “far far less than 1%” based on a hunch (which may or may not turn out to be correct). His goal was to discount the WHO and filter the narrative through approved statements from the CDC, as well as downplay any potential impact from the virus and steady the stock market. It appears he was somewhat successful.

No one is discrediting the WHO, but multiple leading doctors have said that the WHO putting out that 3.4% was reckless given 1) there is already insane hysteria and 2) they have no idea what the true numerator is in that equation. That’s the issue; the number confirmed is NOT the actual number infected.

Basic analysis of the strains in S Korea and now Seattle are suggesting death rates at .7% or much lower even since the numerator is still being assessed

And as a reminder, this is what Shookster is endlessly crying about

3.4% of reported cases died. That’s what they said. Those damn pesky reckless facts. They should be more careful so as not to disturb the stock market or have people prepare for a potential spread of the virus here. Instead they should pull a made up percentage out of thin air and tell Sean Hannity about it.

Oh, so you're going to cry about this as much as Shookster, huh?

Guess what? Trump said exactly what every credible doctor has said about this. I know it offends you since you must cry obsessively about the President, but no one with a brain thought 3.4% was a real death rate. Not a single other virus' death rate is calculated using "confirmed" cases, they use modeling to arrive at the total number of people who had it but never sought out a doctor. Why then would the WHO only using confirmed cases make sense now?

You guys lose your shit when you accuse Trump of being "anti Science" yet here he is, reaffirming what every infectious disease doctor in this country has said and you guys are still losing your shit. And now throwing around Fox News for some reason.

Nah just saying that the WHO isn’t using a false number. 3.4% of reported cases have resulted in death which is exactly what they said. In the US it’s 17 so far out of 437, but many of those 437 have not yet recovered (only 8 have fully recovered based on reports). Anyway carry on the crusade I guess. I for one will be taking precautions and my mother in law who suffers from asthma will be taking it seriously. Hope the market recovers for you.

lol the only one crusading here are you and Shookster to mindlessly complain about Trump saying that the actual death rate won't be anywhere near 3.4%. Which is exactly what our own top scientists are saying as we speak.

Sorry science bothers you so much. I'm sure the market will be fine.

It just amazes me about how Trump just being president destroys the lives of the weak minded. People are obsessed with him and think about him 24/7. Blame him for every single event in the country that’s not going the way CNN fake news portrays it

My stocks are now up $35,000 in 2 weeks.

I guess the WHO isn't made up of credible doctors then?

Dipshit. Just a reminder Trump literally is anti vaccine, so STFU about him knowing anything about science.

The cruise ship is probably the most accurate sample we could ask for, and the death rate there was .8%

How is it reckless? He doesnt want people to panic and make the problem worse. Like it or not, there are a lot of people in this country that trust him and his statement probably eased their concerns a little bit. His administration is still out there every day giving advice to people on how to protect themselves so its not like they are disregarding the thing. They've already allocated more funding to fight this than H1N1 in its entirety.

B-B-But Trump SAID it was FALSE on national TV so it's time for our Trumpster minions to embrace 'alternative facts,' you know, like Trump having a bigger inauguration crowd than Obama.

Why Trump -- or his followers here -- can't simply acknowledge he misspoke and move on is beyond me.

If Biden had said it, it would have been a big deal.
Not to everyone. Of course some people would have jumped on it because that's the nature of politics. Bidens problem is that he seems confused a lot of the time and it wasn't that way 8 years ago so it seems like age is getting to him.

I’m not sure the cruise ship demographic and conditions mirror the conditions on land. On the ship everyone was suspected, tested, and if positive treated. It’s actually the best case scenario.

I was in Cairo two weeks ago when Egypt was “claiming” zero COVID patients and you just knew that was bullshit. I looked around the city and the total poverty and filth most of those people live in and you could see where COVID could have a 3%+ death rate there. Or higher. I think a lot of their people die every day and it never gets reported by the govenrment.

Half of the buildings in Cairo aren’t finished since they don’t want to pay the property tax. There’s often critical HVAC systems not fully installed.

Biden's problems is that he's trying to say too much at one time. So it's hard to "understand the words that be coming out his mouth". He's probably forgotten more than Trump has ever known though.

Agreed. Bidens biggest problem is that it didnt use to be this way. I really liked him in 2008 and dont remember anything of this sort. It just seems very apparent that he's seen a major decline in mental aptitude over the last few years and that gives everyone a reason to question whether he's up for the job.

My dad (74yo) does the same thing. It's not a mental decline, it's the inability to get the right words out. He still does everything fine.
